Ha! Beat me to it... shouldn't this be a Woot Cellars wine? Then a Red Said Fred Cab next weekend, yeah that's the ticket!

They got it wrong! It should have been this. Italian and spelled correctly.

I came across this wine in my cellar and just happened to open a bottle with my wife the other night.

I think the wine was a gift brought by a friend and I recall thinking “Hmmm…Costieres de Nimes, don’t think I have ever had one of those before”. Quick research indicated Southern Rhone, Syrah/Grenache blend. There was very little info on the bottle.

I brought the wine out of the cellar at about 62 F. I poured through the Vinturi into a decanter.

Initially, there was virtually no nose. The available tasting notes suggest “notes of cracked pepper”. I did not get any pepper at any stage of the tasting.

Initial sip revealed EXTREMELY easy drinking, with very little tannin. My suspicion is that, although the blend was not defined, Grenache dominates.

With time, the nose became subtle and pleasant grape Jolly-Rancher. On the palate, the wine was simply delicious. The two of us finished the bottle with ease.(Shocker..)

Overall, I was shocked at how much we enjoyed this wine. I am generally a fan of big, bold, wines that make you stand up and take notice. This wine is not that.

Although I keep trying because it is the “in” thing to do, I have yet to be impressed by often limp-wristed Pinot.

The medium body of this wine would seem to go with a wide range of foods, and, to my mind, it blows away most lighter reds.

If spring and summer ever do return to the frozen north, this wine should be perfect.

Is it broke or just fractured?

Hmmm...So much for my palate.

Looks like Syrah dominates.

Still tastes light and fruity like grenache though!

Is it broke or just fractured?

Hey, Amazonians..the mouse got loose from the cage. The wheels turn after the yellow button is pressed, but that's it. Same thing on the other Woot sites. I even tried rebooting. Don't have time to horse around...got things to do, peoples to see!
