“In the entire world there are only a few sounds that bring joy to all but the most jaded. One is the murmur of a kitten purring. Another is the thwack of a well-pitched baseball hitting a perfectly swung bat. And the third is the pop of a cork being pulled from a bottle of wine.” —George Taber

At $34/btl, we're gonna need more numbers than this
Alcohol: 14.5%
to even begin to know what this is...

Hope the winery chimes in with some additional notes.

With a rating of 86 pts and around $35/bottle + or -, not a typical woot bargain, but probably a nice wine. The area (Alexander Valley) is NorCal central for great wines, so just on geography alone, it's bound to please.

FWIW I have had this wine over multiple vintages and I really like their wines! Just wish I did not buy 2 different pinots today.

This has got to be the most generous spec sheet yet!

I like to talk about wine, but I'd rather drink it.

From a past Woot offering:

2006 Blue Rock Alexander Valley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

14.2% Alc
94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec
854 Cases produced
All French oak (50% new)
All Estate Fruit

Beautiful and pronounced perfume of black fruits, mint, and a violet/blueberry undertone. It is medium body with lots of spice and a long finish with lively acidy. It is not your typical highly extracted, high alcohol Cabernet; rather, it is made with food in mind and balance to ensure a graceful life.

Who gave it an 86? Ill give it 109. Better?

It's a pretty good wine but not much of a deal at that price. The only real bargain in this Woot is the shipping.

They probably wouldn't sell too many if they said they didn't like it.

They were also selling it for $28, which doesn't make this woot seem like much of a bargain!

Have they ever offered a wine they didn't like?

I purchased the last offering.. I found it to be very fruit forward, but not what I would call a fruit bomb. It was not as tannic as I personally like, but on par with the other 2006's I've had from the region. '06 was just that kind of year.

Looking at my cellar tracker entry, the nose and flavor were very closed on opening and this wine benefited greatly from an hour in the decanter.

I'd call this very much a "drink soon" purchase.

How about Black Kite Pinot Noir if we're going in that direction?
