How about mid to late May?

May will probably be better, but I'm not really sure at this point. I'll probably have a good idea at the end of April.

May I suggest the 1st or 3rd Saturday in May? This woud avoid conflict with Mother's Day and Memorial Day. Just a thought.

Given the choice, I've opt for the third Saturday, pending other negotiations...

Weekend of May 18th is out for me. (I may be unavailable due to a wine tasting!)

I'll nominate April 27th or May 4th.

Ty - what was that you were saying about a deal on Shun knives? I can't find it.

Well, now I'm embarrassed to say that a commitment I thought was on the 20th is really on the 27th.

So I'm renominating for the 20th or the 4th.

Heh a left handed knife?? sure hope it works for a righty, I bought the 10" chef knife to go along with my carving knife

I think I would start with a chef's knife more versatile? They are all really good deals.

BTW I will be making Cacio e Pepe for the gathering, I will bring the ingredients I need but do you want me to bring some backup pasta just in case the "As seen on TV" pasta maker does not work? and do you have a large frying pan or do you want me to bring one along?

From the discussion, it's the same blade, but the D-handle goes the other way.

I have dried pasta as a backup. Also, one friend - who lacks proper faith in RonCo - is threatening to bring a pasta attachment to hook up to my mixer. If you are particular about your tools, feel free to bring a frying pan. I tend to use old, cast-iron skillets (which are currently in various states of seasoning).

May 4th it is then ... As I'm already busy on the 20th, and it's less than a week away.

On the one hand, I am intrigued that this event will be on Star Wars Day.

On the other hand, my wife can not have pasta because of the whole gluten thing.

On the other other hand...wait, whose hand is that?

I've been tasked to ask if anyone coming to this shindig (that's a "Java word"!) has any particular dietary restrictions. You know, like vegan, soy-free, breatharian, that sort of thing.

Anyway, please let me know.

(edit add: and there are a couple - right-handed - Shun knives in home.woot.plus, now.)
