“In the entire world there are only a few sounds that bring joy to all but the most jaded. One is the murmur of a kitten purring. Another is the thwack of a well-pitched baseball hitting a perfectly swung bat. And the third is the pop of a cork being pulled from a bottle of wine.” —George Taber

•Case Production: 143 (12 packs)

I'm assuming that 12 packs = cases, and not that there were only 12 cases produced.

Forgive me if this is GBPH, but is CA sales tax now paid on any Woot Wine purchase, regardless of state of delivery?

Couldn't agree more on this one!

This one'll take a while. Out of my price range...will wait for the next tweet.

No, it's taxed based on the destination state. (So some people pay no tax.)

Since the pricing breakdown is not listed in the 'Specs' tab, I went to the producer's website to have a look.

Retail price is $48/bottle, so price for the wine only from the winery is $144.00. Strange that this is listed as Wine.Woot's retail price, when they normally figure in shipping, etc. Add in ground shipping to NY, and the total jumps to $169.50 direct from winery.

I went ahead and checked pricing for all you CA folks too - with shipping, this deal would come to $177.28 with tax and shipping direct from winery. Seems like a solid deal at $110 for the CA Wooters with tax included.

Had to do a double take on the price as well, which is why I did the research. Am considering it now, but would need some more tasting notes/info from winery to pull the trigger at this price of around $35/bottle shipped.

Sounds like this is a very good cab franc.

wow, at least 13 packs sold if conservatively interpreting the color-shadings on the map right now and still only down to 98% at a woot-off.
states with 1 or more: 2
states with 2 or more: 1
states with 3 or more: 3
... or the % bar and the sales stats are not in sync at all

I think they just throw darts at the map. If it hits a "no-ship" state then they remove it.

The more standard 45% off retail would have made this one much more tempting.

These are a really good Cab Franc. I still have two in the fridge or I might be tempted. A little steep in price though.

I managed to place an order in the last minute. I can't wait to try it. I attended a tasting of Jarvis Winery from Napa Valley and the Cab Franc was my favorite of the wines they showed. But at $90/bottle, I think I'll wait and try other ones like the Haywood for value purposes.

Their Zin was very juicy: ripe kind of style but with acidity and great flavour and very well done.

I'm incredibly glad I saw this when it went up for sale. Every bottle I've had from Haywood has been very delicious and I expect nothing less from the Cab Franc!

I just hope some more Zins go on sale soon. I need to stock up! I'm down to 2 Primitivos. That's really not enough...
