I'm torn...I enjoy the complexity of a good blend especially some of the newer red-white blends like syrah-viognay but some varietals like sangeovese I prefer pure.....btw sorry about the spelling...tired of fighting auto correct

I certainly enjoy some of the blends that have been delivered by winewoot! but I certainly don't think that 'the more the merrier' philosophy works here...

Someone once explained it to me this way – Think of a varietal as a single flavor of ice cream, can be great on its own. Think of a blend as a sundae, you have the ice cream base but you add all the other components (hot fudge, nuts, whipped cream, etc.) and it makes the ice cream better or worse depending on your view.

Depends on the taste for us, so a blend has just as good a chance ending up in our wine cabinet as a single grape wine. For example, a great Chianti! Or an Amarone!
