Poll: How do you feel about blends?
  • 73.4% - The more the merrier, I always say! 556
  • 17.6% - I’m a purist, so I find it appalling. 133
  • 9% - Other (comments, please) 68

Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

Bordeaux vs Burgundy, huh?

This could actually turn into a really interesting discussion.

"If drinking is bitter, change yourself to wine." -Rainer Maria Rilke

"Champagne is a very kind and friendly thing on a rainy night." -Isak Dinesen

I'm torn...I enjoy the complexity of a good blend especially some of the newer red-white blends like syrah-viognay but some varietals like sangeovese I prefer pure.....btw sorry about the spelling...tired of fighting auto correct

I certainly enjoy some of the blends that have been delivered by winewoot! but I certainly don't think that 'the more the merrier' philosophy works here...

100% depends on the fruit and what the end goal for an individual wine is.

Someone once explained it to me this way – Think of a varietal as a single flavor of ice cream, can be great on its own. Think of a blend as a sundae, you have the ice cream base but you add all the other components (hot fudge, nuts, whipped cream, etc.) and it makes the ice cream better or worse depending on your view.

Depends on the taste for us, so a blend has just as good a chance ending up in our wine cabinet as a single grape wine. For example, a great Chianti! Or an Amarone!
