Don't recall if I mentioned the saga of the fallen iPad. all of a ~16" descent, however halted by the corner of a bedside table. Result, total shatter of the glass face/digitizer. Got a replacement but the bottom 15% or so was non-responsive to touch. Replacement arrived along with another inside cable but both have been collecting dust while I finally carved out time to crack it open, again, today.

Quoted anywhere from $150/400 to repair/replace. Under $60 total in parts and a few hours, plus some additional time as the first one was defective.

Success!

Can't tell it ever had a problem or was opened. Not sure I'd do it again however, but nice to know what's inside and that's it's possible for a mere mortal.

Yes, oil hot water. Heat is baseboard hot water radiators. So all about the hot water.
