Why isn't Italy a choice? Or the Black Sea, where wine originated?

It has all been downhill since Phylloxera.... at least according to my grandfather and great uncles who drank the great wines of the mid- and late-nineteenth century before it struck Europe.

How the hell do you have Canada there and not Italy? Does Canada even produce wine?

Oregon would be a nice addition to the list. There is no place where the Pinot is quite so delightful...

I'd say NY gives CA a run for it's wineries...

But my current favorite wine comes from Italy.

The greatest wines come from: grapes.

Lots of excellent wines from lots of places. I'm more than happy to drink them all.

Oregon & Washington. Columbia Valley, Walla Walla... These are where my favorite wines come from. Northwest wines are so, seriously, super good... Mmmm.

Throw in a Argentina, New Zealand, and Italy and I'm all set :-)

So is France, and they got separate billing. Grouping Italian and German wines together is like grouping bikes and cars together. Both excellent forms of transportation, but NOT the same.

Hands down, CA. Wish I lived there, owned a winery or worked on one and could drink CA wine any time I wanted.

This is certainly an interesting question, and one that, to me, is impossible to answer.

I have great wines from throughout the world - wines that have been memorable for various reasons. Perhaps it was that Aussie riesling that was so darned refreshing on a hot summer afternoon . . . Or that Bandol Rose from France that was mesmerizing . . . or that CdP that continued to build in complexity as the dinner went on . . . or that Spanish blend that I shared over a long dinner with great friends . . .

Again, too difficult to answer because I think that there are great wines being made all around the country - the real fun is in the discovery (-:
