Not sure about the style of this one, but some Syrahs are huge and delicious. Others are a bit lighter, a la merlot vs cab. I say jump.

I had the '04(?) Merlot, Cab, and Syrah from Dusted Valley when they were offered on Woot years ago. Wish I had some notes, but I do remember really liking all three of them and am jumping on this offer, too. I seem to recall that the Syrah was our favorite.

Boomtown in the value label and according to this article the Merlot sells for $15, so I'm not sure about the MSRP stated here. http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20120620/BLOG5203/706209993

Do some exploring in west Paso Robles for some world class Syrah. A very good starter would be Stillman's Colossus. After that, move to Booker, Alban, Herman Story, Epoch, Denner... on and on. Syrah can be very, very good. I prefer the meaty, plum Syrahs. Normally what differentiates a good Syrah from a great one (for me) is the complexity and structure. A lot of Syrah can have great taste but be very monotonous.

That being said, great Paso Robles Syrah is starting to get nearly as expensive as decent Napa cabs.
