No, it is not. It's an amino acid found in meat and dairy...and energy drinks. Some athletes think taurine supplements improve their performance but to date the science has been inconclusive. I used to take it in the early 90's when I was staying up all night raving. I think the ecstasy had a much stronger effect than the taurine...

Yeah, I thought Taurine was a amino acid supplement that's good for the eyes & heart AND an essential nutrient in cat food. It's in energy drinks, but that doesn't make it the same as caffeine. That's pretty much all I know of it.
