We'll be having this at my place (1 br apt in Santa Clara so it may be a bit cozy if we get significant interest). I'll provide both decanters and glasses.

PLEASE RSVP and I'll update this post.

I am thinking either late October or early November.

So I'm in! Either the PS or I can pick something up at K&L. I would probably prefer first weekend in November or last weekend in October.

Since 1988 is my birth year, I'd love to try this! I've been looking for vintage 1988 wines to serve at my 25th birthday party, which is coming up in May.

How does either Friday 10/19 or 10/26 sound. The 26th might be nice because we could conceivable convince people from so-cal to come up for both the woot Halloween AND some good old wine instead of making them choose both.

My place in Santa Clara is available, though this time is is a 1 BR apartment so it may be cozy if we get 10+ attendees. We'll say it is the place unless someone else wishes to host.

So 10/19, 10/20, or 10/26?

If I'm going to drive 4 hours roundtrip, I'm going to make a whole day out of it. I have a club shipment I need to pick-up in Napa and a few cases at winebid. I'd also like to stop at Wellington vineyards and pick up some of his 2010 Duke. CAGrl brought a bottle of the Duke to the Fig Cafe during the last gathering and I thought it was an amazing QPR, especially at the case price!

Ok, I think 10/19 is a go based on responses.

It will start at 7 and go until whenever (though I'd love for people to arrive relatively punctually so everyone can enjoy each wine.

I have 24 glasses and 8 decanters so I think we're set as far as those go.

Please reply with attendance, any +'s , and what bottle (or a subset that you'll choose from if undecided)

I guess I'll have to make 10/19 work; wouldn't want to miss out on this event! I'll bring a 1994 Hess Collection Mt. Veeder Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon.

P.S.
This would also be a good time to settle up on the sherry order.

Lindemanns, Optima, Ramsay

It would be nice to see how an Ausie cab aged, I've heard that '97s might be passing prime, and there are Ramsay ABs on wine if for $5. We can choose as a group.

The AB I can throw in as a third bottle for kicks. Picked it up for $5 on winebid a while back. I am leaning towards the clos du bois and lindeman's. The 97 madrigal is not past it's prime yet. It was a good year and like any vintage, depends on the producer. I would be careful with generalizing regarding prime, as it might trick you into opening a bottle that could go much longer. Also could be the famed but less understood "dumb phase" debate.
