Anyone find much of interest in the WL sale today? The few I looked at had increased $3~5 over earlier prices. Guess they have to pay for shipping as well.

I hope so! Also knowing my dad, he'll save the opening of that bottle for when I'm around.

I started filling a case up, but then realized that the deals weren't all that spectacular and I'd rather just assemble a case at my local wine store, which--like yours, probably--also often has closeouts. So, pass.

Dry Creek Old Vine Zinfandel 2007
$16.99 per bottle at wineshopper.

Good price, but IIRC a lot of us on the RPM tour thought the non-old vine zin was better.

They must have bought the entire lot of 2010???

Uhhh, no! It's available on Ty's website for $80/btl.

That's my guess. Interesting to see the way that market works. Ty has it for $80. Distributor sold it for less than $35, obviously.

Or maybe this is like Ty's "Winemaker's Cuvee" CS that has shown up at WTSO repeatedly. That offering has struck me as a situation where Ty has advanced his prices so far that he's wound up with inventory he needs to find a way to clear out.

With this offering his distributor is stuck with inventory that isn't moving and clears it out. Or Ty pulls it back from the distributor and flips it to WTSO. By getting the wine out of circulation and moving it via a flash site, he isn't undercutting his distributor and his winery price is the only price that will show up at winesearcher.

***

[added] Moot anyway since WTSO apparently sold out.

Oooh, my local Cost Plus in So Cal has 2010 Poizin for $9.99. Bought 2 for now. May have to go back and pick up a case. Just a fun wine that I didn't like paying $20+ for. But $10? Sold.

This one actually was labeled as Tytanium, so it should be the exact same wine Ty is selling as Tytanium.

With his price increases of late, I wonder if he pushed the prices up on this a bit too high which allowed WTSO to swoop in and swallow up the inventory. Too bad it didn't go to Woot.

The only people paying $80 for that wine are the suckers in his tasting room.

Club members probably pay somewhere around $60 and we are used to paying $35 via flash sites.

With all the MM I've picked up, this isn't one of them. Not much in the way of tasting notes but what there are make it sound pretty fruity. In SD so it may take awhile to swap, but tempted if no one else is closer.

Where does that fit on the lush-austere scale? I've had too many Loire CF's that tend more to the syrupy end of things than the bell pepper and raspberry/cherry end.

You will find no syrup in this wine, very traditional with plenty cherry, green peppers and herbs. You can cellar it forever...will maybe not forever. Try one I think you would like/love it.
