I've had some very good FA Cabs from the 70's (and still have a '73), but have drunk none of their wines since then for some reason.

Anyone have recent experience with their cabs?

This was released in 2009, and we were tasting at Torii Mor in September 2009. I didn't keep notes, but there's a very good chance this was in our flight.

If so it was very good. Everything in the flight ranged from excellent to outstanding, with the Deux Verres being our favorite at that tasting. (Imagine my elation when wine.woot featured the Duex Verres a week or so later.)

Torii Mor is almost an autobuy for me. If you want to split an order count me in and PM me.

First question - how are y'all on the taste of anise (black licorice)? That tends to be a dominant flavor, though in this case the reviews say it's balanced by the fennel and wormwood.

Anyway, here are some reviews of it.

Funny that I'm the SH wine club member, but SWMBO gets the email telling her about that Winespies offer. No matter, Winespies can't/won't ship to NY. Saves me some $.

Was just about to ask if there were opinions on this. Good CT notes, but clearly seems to be more NW than OW in style; interesting nonetheless, if only it didn't take six.

I really liked the 08, but I agree the 09 sounds overdone.

New Cindy up, Roudon Smith Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2006, for $15. I'd like to like this, but 2006. Also, the two CT reviews are miles apart, but the 78 and I share some wines, and his notes seem reasonable. Bad bottle? Off day? Just a sub-par wine to avoid?

2010 Villacreces Pruno from Ribera del Duero on wine library..... What an unfortunate name for a wine. No wonder they have to sell it for $17/ bottle with a 94 Parker rating

$17 for a bottle of Pruno?

I'm taking a flyer on a couple and am hoping it sells for so little because of the name.

Ribera del Duero almost always has good acid due to the cold nights, never found not enough tannin in any RDD's I have had, and the ABV is only 13.5%.

The only thing that worries me is Parker's 94 rating...maybe his palate is changing for the better IMHO
