Okay, here we go ... a 1-stop place to compile all of the RPM Tour threads.

I'll try to keep this initial post with the links to the threads regarding the RPM Tours.

2008
Woop's post, aka the post that started the thread that started this all.

rpm's historical tour of Cali wine country, aka the thread that started it all.

Field Notes from the RPM Wine Tour-ists, aka the random babblings of the 1st group whilst on the inaugural Tour. TMR did nightly updates, while jwhite6114 posted from the bus.

RPM Tour web site, focused on initial tour.

Google Map of Woot Wineries, with special icons for places visited during 2008 Tour.

2010
2010 Magical History Tour - July 20, 21, 22, aka the Sequel.

Field Notes from the 2010 RPM Wine Tour-ists, aka the random babblings of the 2nd group whilst on the Sequel Tour.

2012
2012 Magical History Tours - Tour 1: July 23, 24, 25 -- Tour 2: July 25, 26, 27, aka the Trip that almost blew RPM's mind ... from overwork and stress, that is.

Start of Field Notes for 2012 Tour 1, initial post starting Tour 1 notes from the field. (Silly us, not starting a separate thread for the Field Notes this time around!) Starts on Page 27 of 2012 Tour.

Start of Field Notes for 2012 Tour 2 (Vets) Starts on Page 28.

WineDavid39 and WineFarm (and friends) Appreciation Thread, thanking them for this past week. And for just being them.

Thanks for putting these up where they'll be seen, Mark!

I still highly recommend all of the linked reads to both Tourists and those who couldn't join us.

And everyone, don't forget to show WD and WineFarm your appreciation on that thread: truly, without them, it doesn't happen!

Well, mine are in the main 2012 thread but I agree a new thread would be easier to read without all the minor preliminaries

Last purchase: 5/3/14

2013 - 75 btl. 2012 - 98 btl. 2011 - 112 btl. 2010 - 30 btl.

Pulling corks is clearly easier than making links.

Here is the LIST

I suspect he's thinking about the two books I brought to the first night's gathering to show people:

Amerine, Maynard A. and Roessler, Edward B. [b]Wines: Their Sensory Evaluation[/i]. New York. W.H. Freeman & Co. revised & enlarged ed. 1983. Better than the original 1976 edition. Anyone who tastes seriously should read this book carefully more than once. The first five chapters and the Glossary are not especially technical (though much of the book is). This is truly pioneering work and has advanced the state of the art in being able to describe and talk about wines in a way that is consistent and communicates usable information, not purely subjective descriptions. This book explains the various Davis scorecards and their tasting methods. The ultimate antidote to Parker’s descriptions.

Peynaud, Emile. The Taste of Wine: The Art and Science of Wine Appreciation. New York. J. Wiley & Sons, Inc. 2nd ed.1996 (English translation by Michael Schuster of French original). This is the French counterpart to the Amerine & Roessler, newer, and very good. This volume, too, should be on every serious taster’s shelf, and be read more than once.

Ahh, yes, of course, but that is quite a list!

I'm still working thru the Peynaud I had brought along during the tour, and wish I'd have finished it before the tour.
