Okay, inquiring minds want to know. Where the H is Ogorsolka Vineyards in Paso? East-side or West-side?

Notes from last night: '07 had a nice nose, red berries and cherries. Smooth entry, surprising for the % alcohol. Darker fruits on the palate: plums and blackberries, nice finish. I found both of the '08s a bit harsh on entry, not much of anything on the nose, not much Syrah character. Much preferred the '07.

Heres a review I found online.
http://www.forgottengrapes.com/varietals/dubost-2007-ogorsolka-vineyard-paso-robles-syrah.html

Chris Says: Man, there is a lot going on in this wine! From a small single vineyard right smack dab in the middle of the Templeton Gap, you'll pick up different aromas and flavors every time you swirl and sip this wine. We're talking not just the standard blackberries and boysenberries, but cola, green peppercorns, mushroom, smoke, maybe some bacon fat in there, definitely tobacco and leather. A super complex yet surprisingly frisky Syrah that you could easily drink now or lay down for 2-3 years and watch it grow more complex and interesting with age. Kind of like Diane Keaton or Rene Russo. Man, I miss Rene Russo. She needs to be in a movie like right now...

I really liked the '07 Ogorsolka Vineyards Syrah. On the nose, I found wonderful dark cherries. I found it to be a nice, full bodied wine. Despite the 16.1% ABV, it didn't seem hot at all.

The '08 Paso Robles seemed harsh and out of balance to me. But the '08 Colson from Santa Barbara came into its own later. It started with a bit of a funky nose but the flavors melded together nicely.

May our love be like good wine, grow stronger as it grows older. ~ Old English Toast

Hi there. You'll find those details on the offer page. You can get to that page by clicking the photo on the main page.

Man... Really bummed because I planned on stopping here after Tablas Creek last Saturday. Unfortunately we just ran out of time. I was told I should be jumping in because of the offer title, but after slinging 2 cases home from paso last night (still haven't found space in the cooler either) I need to be on a wbm.

I am guessing the 6.1% alcohol listed in specs for the 2007 Ogorsolka Vineyard Syrah is a typo... should be 16.1%?

Yes 16.1 is correct, 6.1 wouldn't be too much fun.

We had a gourmet Sausage fest at the winery last night! Handmade by our friend Don Sherwood, Cayucos Meat Market, and grilled by Curt (co-owner) to perfection. The Paso Syrah was a PERFECT companion to some of Don's bolder offerings!

Thanks for joining us Kate! We had the Colson Canyon at a Woot tasting last night- Had a smokey, peppery layer under the dark fruit- I could definitely see it pairing well with some hearty grilled fare!

The thing I think is unique about this set of wines is the geographic trip that takes you from Adelaida area of Paso Robles to Santa Barbara. Very different climates and soil structures. Here is a chance to taste "cool climate" Syrah against a "warm climate" Syrah and see where your palate lies.

This wine is way out of my normal price point. But it's late, and I've been drinkin'. In for 2.

Anyway, it's my wife's money.

Just opened the first bottle - the 2008 Colson. Poured it out, it was crap. Summer shipping ain't what it's cracked up to be.
The 2007 is barely drinkable. No, it's not even that in wine parlance.

Lesson learned.

Sorry for the problem with the wine. You should email support@woot.com so they can assist.
