For the record, I have no association with this winery whatsoever. In truth, I don't much like them (never had the wines). I'm just trying to figure out what's going on for everyone's benefit.

I never used the term bad for the Sunce wines. In fact I said it was not bad and we drank it. The point of this board is to share opinions and let people make their own conclusions. When someone says they will not buy a wine again that tells me a lot. Like Kyle I have 100+ woots down my goozle.

Others were saying "bad" which is not a very good descriptor. Again, I'm just trying to figure out if the wine sucks or was actually flawed.

If you are that bothered by the sediment run it through the Vintury with a filter. Only issue I see with ANY wine.woot at this time is shipments to the southern states which may result in heat exposure during transport, not something that the wine maker can truly control.

I don't mind a little sediment in my wine, but it shouldn't feel sandy, and there shouldn't be a thick coat of sediment on the bottom of the first glass out of the bottle. Nor should it have tasted "off" -- it had a distinctly moldy taste.

I've never had a bad experience from WW except this one. The fact that I got crickets from the winery when I tried to contact them regarding the problem sealed the deal for me. Never buying from this vintner again.

Something else to be said about Sunce wines - they Greatly benefit from breathing for at Least an hour, in some cases a couple. I have had the Great pleasure to encounter them close to 8 years ago and have been Highly satisfied with 95% of what I have tried from them. I went through close to 3 cases of the '07 Cab-Shiraz and wish I could have gotten more before they ran out. Glad to see that the '09 is in this along with the '09 Field of Dreams Syrah which is in it so one gets a chance to do a comparison between the straight varietal and the blend with Cabernet.

there is no spoon.

This sounds like cork taint or maybe some other bacterial problem with the cork.

I've bought 3 or 4 offers from Sunce and had a couple of bad bottles - which the winery replaced without hesitation.

I've enjoyed most of their wines and some have been absolutely just fantastic. I loved their Barbera, PS and Merlot.

I do think their wines are age worthy and I agree with the comment that they need some time or air to open up.

If you are buying this offer, please post on CellarTracker!!! I'd like to know what you think before I get it on the next woot-off.

Sediment happens.

Yeah, what their deal? Its been hours since the first few people posted on here and no response from the winery.

I had been extremely impressed by the interactivity of some of the wineries on here and I am more inclined to purchase from them. Even if their interaction is to say, 'I am here to answer all questions today'.

Suncé usually posts a lot here during their offers. Not sure why no one from the winery has shown up this time.

With the Mourvedre, I've found that getting at least 6 months on it has a nice effect. You can always contact Sunce for their recommendations -- ask for Kimberly!

too numerous to mention, over 40 t-shirts for me and as gifts. Still no bandolier of carrots.

Sunce=sucks. I visited a few years back and got so-so service. Add a terrible Zin via WTSO and never again! Not sure why WD continues this relationship. Anyway, I predict a woot off tonight.

This is a fantastic deal --

We stumbled across this small winery a few years ago and joined the wine club after a barrel tasting. The red wines are a bit bigger than I'd been used to, but I love how they've helped me to expand my palate. Love the rich leathery body of the Mourvedre.

Note that this winery has a small staff staff and closes by 6 pm PST, but I've always received great customer service via email and phone including replacement of broken bottle. The only bad bottles that I've received are those I believe were due to extremely high heat exposure from being on a delivery truck all day when it's triple digits in Texas. The winery has been quite accommodating in postponing my summer shipments.

Sunce is an automatic buy for us. We have been club members for years and have enjoyed outstanding customer service and wonderful treatment when we have the chance to visit the winery. We have never had a Sunce wine that we didn't enjoy, either from Woots, club shipments or futures purchases. These wines are the result of an old world craftsman. Keep up the good work Sunce.

Terrible wine. Terrible woot. I had bugs in the Sunce wine and true to their attitude, Woot considered me a sucker. They did't care, didn't find it odd and did not respond to my customer service request or pictures.
I sadly thought Woot's attitude was just part of their creative style, but i guess i've learned they push junk and really do think customers are "suckers".

[quote postid="5042883" user="kylemittskus"]Just so no one gets confused, neither of these issues would have occurred due to heat damage during shipping or otherwise.

Not entirely accurate, Wine corks can pop due to excessive heat during shipping. In the summer months the back of a shipping truck can get extremelly hot and corks may pop. That is why there is often a no ship policy during the mid summer months to areas experiencing a heat wave. However, Sunce wines are absolutely terrible, light, overly sweet and with a bad after taste so count your blessings if you didn't have to drink them

Try WTSO (wines till sold out) I had a case of corked wine one time and they were able to get me a brand new case and gave me a credit. I love that sight
