I'm actually really surprised there wasn't a formal blog entry on this! Matt's really a part of the community across the site, and not everyone visits Deals.woot.

iirc, amazon wanted to learn how woot did its thing. i imagine as a condition of the sale there was a contractual obligation for the major players to stay on for a while, until amazon sucked all the knowledge it could from woot. then the changes to the amazon way and the peeps were free to go, if they want.

they still have writeups and mods and prolly lots of codework to do, so those jobs are still there, but i wonder how many of the st louie crowd miss home.
and if any of the peeps who had to move to seattle miss their autonomy.
