One of our favorite things about having Scott as our winemaker is scoring some of this juice. That 1869 zin is a personal fav for me.

Once this syrah is gone, it's gone. Great balance in this wine. It's a sitting wine, not a standing wine. Loves food!

Not to get off-topic, but Scott didn't have a hand in making the '99, it was merely "Scott Approved" I believe.

So what your saying (I assume because of the great detail of your post) is that every winery is different and each one has to get a license to sell in every state? So, it was just by luck that ALL the wine I have purchased on here winery's just so happened to have a license for Maryland?? Can someone from the winery verify this as I have not run into it before. Do you sell to Maryland?

I am not from the winery but I can verify that you are correct, or rather Kyle was correct, or rather Cesare was correct to include that language in the first post.

I'm not from the winery, but if you look at the sale page, it lists the states to which this wine can be sold. It's not always the same list...it depends on which states the winery has licenses to sell to...sometimes Maryland is on the list, and sometimes it's not. Sometimes the list is long...sometimes it's rather short.

That is all true.

Looking at the Astrale e Terra website though, it does appear that they ship to Maryland, so it might be worth someone on Woot's end to double-check the state list in this instance.

Hello,

We have double checked and can confirm that Maryland is not an available ship-to state for this particular offering. I apologize for any inconvenience.

All the accolades were made even more compelling when I realized I already had shipping comp'd thanks to another woot earlier today.

Received my very warm wine today. Fedex guy said the ac in his truck was broke and it was 103 degrees in the van. Wine was sent fedex 2-day from CA to OH. The tracking number posted after the robocall from fedEx.

Dang, there's nothing we can do to foresee truck AC problems.

Look the wine over. If you see any signs of problems, email service@woot.com for assistance.

I received my wine today. The wine was rather warm. None of the corks were pushed out but one of the ten bottles had considerable leakage visible on the packing material.

I decided to go ahead and open that bottle since I did not know the extent of the loss of cork's sealing integrity. Removed the foil, and there was red all around the top edge the cork. Once opened it was easy to see a very visible track down the side of the cork. But a little more concerning was how far up the cork wine had traveled: pretty much all around the base of the cork. But not evenly and not of the type were the wine has had time to really wet and stain the cork as it did near the base of the cork. The staining away from the base was all on the surface. The staining came up about about a 1/3 of the way from the base of the cork and was similar in color to the streak that made it all the way to the top.

One reason I bought this wine is all reports said it would cellar for a while. But if this bottle is any indication of the rest that would probably not be a good idea. It is not that the wine was bad. There just was not much to it. There was some fruit, not much (almost nothing) in the way of any tannins and a rather short finish. It was not bad. Just not something I'd consider suitable for cellaring for several years.

It is obvious the cork leaked on this one bottle. My concern is the leakage was due to heat and not only due to an individual cork issue. On the other hand, the wine could be suffering from bottle shock. Or maybe the leak was such as to allow the wine to oxidize a bit, and this is its "second day." I'll wait 8 weeks or so and try another bottle.

My wine was delivered yesterday and I opened one last night. I am wondering if it was heat damaged because it was terrible. I will wait and see if this is "bottle shock" but I am very disappointed. Pretty label though.

Sorry about that. Be sure and let us know if the wine doesn't get any better, or if any other bottles are the same way. We'll be happy to assist - service@woot.com.

I have to agree that there's not much fruit left in this wine. A couple hours of air the first night and it was OK, but by the second night it was pretty simple. Better drink it fast. Well, not fast, but soon.

Just pulled into Barcaelona on a trans-Atlantic cruise. Now have internet. Sorry I couldn't get on when this wine ran. The wine should have another two to three years of time. The pH is a little high for my usual wines, which is normal for Syrahs.

Scott, are you saying this wine should be aged another 2 - 3 or the window left for drinking is 2 - 3 years?

I had the same experience with my delivery, cork leakage was evident and on the packaging when I opened the box. The styro packaging was not snug around the tops of the bottles, so I assume it was jostled too much in shipping. It was also very hot in Ohio and I had to have my package held at the FedEx store.

I know that Thursday is w00t's target delivery day, but I'm not around during the time-frame they deliver. FedEx policy states they must attempt delivery at least once before one can have a package held for pick-up. But, there are no facilities near me. Thirty-miles from me, but NOT NEAR me! I wish w00t would go back to UPS, or at least give us a choice of shippers. My UPS driver never had a problem signing for me and leaving the package. Of course, I tipped him well at Christmas.

After all that, I emailed service w00t and they offered a refund or replacement. I opted for replacement because I really liked the wine and i had hoped to cellar a few bottles.

Put mine in a cold celler and opened one bottle a few days later and it was pretty bad. Thought is was a fluke and opened two more today and they both were terrible! The entire lot must be bad.
