Nice to again see Saturday international offerings again, but just not feeling the love here, and at a higher price than the previous woot. Perhaps I'm just grumpy tonight.
Summer shipping now built into the base price?

I don't believe I have ever had Monastrell. Any thoughts on it. From the picture it appears light in color. What it's characteristics? Price seems descent at only 12.50 per bottle.

I also noticed that the Monastrell saw no oak.

Shipping is always above and beyond the price listed.

Previous offer 12 @ 125 + 5 = 130; 10.83 each
This offer 2 x 6 @ 70 + 5 = 145; 12.08 each
hence my comment additional shipping now built into the base price.

We have any pseudo-rats from the earlier offering that sold out in ~ 12 hours?
Pretty short thread there on the wine itself and not much on CT.

Thanks, I guess I could of looked that up.
Although I have never had Mourvèdre bottled by itself either so the statement still works.

I know this is not the place, but I have to get this off my chest. Since I have found woot quite a while back, I have LOVED it. I have bought a ton of wine and stuff, and actually found myself setting an internal clock for 10pm to see what was up (usually hoping for some balsamic). Since the change of format, I have been less then impressed. Specifically:

The page downloads MUCH slower then the old page. There are too many graphics and the page is BUSY.

Three deals was cool at first, but it cheapens the thrill of the ultimate deal. This is an amazon attempt at capturing more customers with different likes. While I understand this from a business perspective, I don't think that it fits the deal (not dealS) of the day that woot started with.

Community participation seems to have dropped. While I have not been coming on every night (I used to LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE DAY), there are less comments. I think it could be due to the newfound complexity of the page.

Lastly, I am still mad about the labrat execution. This was the best part.

Sorry for starting the weekend on a negative note, but I had to get it off my chest. My excitement for woot has dwindled.

I usually hate the negative comments and complaining-but I have to agree here. Maybe I will get used to the new format but right now it seems much harder to navigate and get the info I am searching for. That said I love wine.woot and have learned alot from this site.

I agree with both of you. I was learning so much about wine from the discussion. Now I feel used and like I need to take a shower.

Can't ship to Virginia? Is there a list of states and does that mean wine.woot can *never* ship to Virginia? Or just this particular offer?

See Cesare's post at the top.
Each winery must obtain appropriate license(s) from each state they wish to ship to. There are many/varied/complex requirements per state.
Short answer -- the states that can be shipped to varies with each offer

I can't tolerate this new layout. Goodbye woot, you've just lost a few thousand dollars a year in sales.

The new format is fine. However an official thread for the woot Plus offers would excellent with winery participation. And of course bring back the labbies!

wooted the previous offering. Enjoyed the Barranc del Rei - I didn't take notes, so this is from memory. As I recall that was a good solid Spanish red wine. Dry and well balanced, with good structure. Probably not overly hot, overly acidic, or with gripping tannins or I would have remembered that. I enjoyed the Barranc del Rei sufficiently well to make a mental note that it was worth buying again.

Not so fond of the La Tribu. The first two bottles had nice bouquet but on drinking were thin and even had an offputting (to me) slight effervescence. The third bottle I VnDed for an hour, and that helped greatly. The effervescence was gone and the wine showed a lot more body. It was immensely enjoyable, with good structure, some forward fruitiness but far from a bomb - overall nicely balanced. At that point it was seeming to me like a great value, and I was kicking myself for not having given the same treatment to the first two bottles. But after a couple more hours in the decanter it was falling apart.

If this offering were just the Barranc del Rei and I were not otherwise loaded up with Iberian reds I would consider going in. But I'm not interested in more La Tribu. There's a lot of much better stuff out there at $10/bottle.

The big problem that I see with the new format is that the pages are incredibly cluttered. Key links are not as obvious as they should be, related links are too prominent, and layout of links on the page is baffling.

The logical place for side offers and side links is in side bars. Links related to the main content should be in middle of the page.

It's like following bread crumbs to try and find the comments section. Comments are what sells the wine - not the witty writeups, not the splashy graphic intense pages. TOO many different pages to get the information we used to get in two clicks. I vote this down.

Really? To get to this thread on the front page I look to the rectangle wine red button to the right of the main offer. Says Join this discussion. It's kinda like the old version, just slightly more south in location, at least in my browser. I do the same amount of clicks (1) to get to the product thread that I did on the old version of the webpage.

Now to see the rest of the description you do have to click read more which does mean you have to do another click to get to the forums. But mainly the forums are what I read on the site, so I go here straight away.

Yea that extra click is a real back breaker...and three possible great deals really ticks me off

Personally, my principal bookmark to wine.woot is http://wine.woot.com/forums/. That's always been more convenient for me than the main portal.

This is a re-woot, check ceasars link at the top for the page to the past thread for more info. Its also a Saturday which means most people aren't sitting around bored at work so there's not going to be much of a discussion.

I have no experience with Spanish reds but I usually try and find something locally to try first to see if I even like the style. So I'm not going to jump on this.
