But how would you ever know a Stelvin screw-top is actually better than a cork? It is Kosher. The oaking regiment does not affect it being buttery, this chard is not. Blah blah blah.

I still read them, so I am that dumb, but the threads have lost their usefulness long ago. I basically come for the winemaker's input.

I also love when our winemakers chime in on offers!

I'm just hanging out, really.

I love the winemaker input, but if you're ignoring the vast amount of information that participants on these boards have to share, you are hugely missing out, IMO.

I agree (and disagree). You are a favored poster! And that "favored poster" status has nothing to do with your quality posts. You are a frequent and knowledgeable contributor.

But, let's face it, there are like 20 routine questions that might as well be generated by a bot. For example, let me just put this out there, "some wineries may have licenses to ship to your state, that does not mean they all do. it is a case-by-case basis. It has nothing to do with woot."

That alone is worthy of a handful of replies EVERY offering. Once again, I am here for the winemaker's input (and the comments of posters who are far more versed in oenology than I can ever hope to be.)"

Even with that disclaimer, don't get you get pissed off with "kosher/RS/buttery chards/organic" and all the other routine ?s that people who visit these boards see? (I don't post often, but I still read. There have to be a lot more like myself.)

Questions about style, oak, cellaring, etc. don't bother me. I sometimes ask them also, although I have been taught (by people here) how to interpret given info fairly well, so I rarely need to ask those questions now, assuming the #s are provided.

The shipping, kosher, summer heat, etc. bother me. Hence, my public service announcement that I posted last night and that, it sounds like, Cesare is going to start adding to the first post (selfish, Quiet Protest-stealing bastard ).

And thank you for the compliment! Almost everything I know, I learned from these boards and the contributors.

We discovered this amazing syrah this past fall and have been enjoying it ever since. It is a wine we often share with family and friends. We also met the winemaker, what a wonderful individual, very personable and really knows his stuff. A must try! We also highly recommend the chardonnay and viognier!

Suggestion; go directly to wineries websites and obtain the information you are looking for, since you "get pissed off" by all the routine questions on this message board. I'd like to think there are less people like yourself on any forum board.

Fabulous Wine! I have followed Robert Henson as a winemaker since his time working with Michael Michaud in Monterey County! Henson has winemaking down! I would recommend this wine to syrah lovers everywhere.

...a Sunday without Woot, new site design.. a lot going on around here, and the resulting tension is unfortunate, though understandable. I think what we need here is a cute, little puppy, to relieve the stress...

sdbcmr wrote:Exactly. That's what I said I was going to do in the post that originally got one or two people all wee-wee'd up about other people's bizness.

I don't find "don't worry, it's OK" to be sufficient; others do. I'm fine with that.

I will point out that woot's a buying habit, though, and it's likely I'll just be used to spending the money locally as I did for all those years before Woot. I live between two metro areas with great shops and it's easy and the sales are good, so no problem.

I'd have thought the feedback might have been interesting to woot (and I did raise the issue with them outside the forums and got pretty much the same "don't worry ... be happy" answers.) But apparently Cesar - of whose work I've been a big fan - has hopped on the snark bandwagon.

S'ok by me. But you're absolutely right: as I said in a post a while back, this is a good time for a moratorium on wine.woot. If I feel compelled to in the Fall, I may start ordering here again.

good points.. but klez below is right. if once you get the shipping number you all up the Fedex people and ask them to hold it at your depot it will always have been refrigerated, adn you don't hae to worry abou tthe last day delivery .True, you have to pick it up. but peace of mind..

Indeed. the winemaker, and oher winemakers who chip in when they can. Most of us on this board who at least know a little learned much of it from the winemakers on this board, adn from visiting them, dining, drinking and having fun with them! I heartily encourage anybody here to meet up with some of the wooters adn the winemakers (like the forthcoming rpm tour 3).

My winemaking knowledge and paate I improved exponentially during and after the last tour, and meeting ther wooters for drinks and events always sharpens my tasting, (and dulls the next day, but such are our sacrifices). I'm proud to have learned so much, and that Scott and other winemakers are now friends as well as esteemed and respected winemakers!

So... A general question about the wine woot map that shows wooters wooting. If VA is not included in todays offering, how can the state be kind of light pink instead of white. Does the map include the Plus sales as well as the daily offering? Thanks.

Hmmmmm, interesting. I'll send that question on. Not sure if or when I'll hear back but it's off to the right people.

Nah. I'm done. This is basically a convenience for me. I don't live in the boonies, and I have lots of wine buying options, wine sellers who don't find questions about shipping off-putting, great selections, a willingness to order - and to discount - the wines I want ... so why bother?

I realize that "Wooting" is actually a lifestyle for a few folks. I've only been actively buying here for a few months, and fortunately, it's just a discount outlet to me, not a "community" ...

I asked what I regard as reasonable questions about wine I ordered a few weeks ago. Others disagree and find my questions unreasonable - and consider it their own business, rather than business between me and Woot.

Given the clear message at the "write us" page on the site, Woot is really not interested in queries unless they fall under and are clearly addressed to certain particular questions.

That's fine.

My local wineseller loves questions. And my questions don't bother his other customers because ... well ... I guess because they have lives of their own?

I'm done. Just checked in one last time to see if I could find out about the wine I've paid for. It's supposed to have been delivered on May 24th; they changed that to May 30th when they actually picked up on May 23rd.

The date for delivery is tomorrow. The last news available to me - for the past week - is that it's in Reno, NV. It was 92F. here today.

It's a pretty fair bet I'll be refusing delivery when the boxes arrive tomorrow - or whenever, since the last report of them was in Reno a week ago. What a waste of time.

And if Kyle and the rest are reading this: my time's being wasted because it's my money. Why in the world are YOU wasting time on this?

There are lives to be lived out there, guys. Pick one and live it.

This is my life, man! And your obsession with me is both flattering and creepy. Sad to see someone go as people make this place great. Not sad that your attitude won't be here anymore, though. Attitudes make this place... Wait, what's the opposite of great?

I worked retail a number of years and quickly discovered that some customers are not worth keeping....................

Oh and on topic, if I had the room and budget I would be all over this as I love both paso syrah and the muppets. Please come back with another offer in the not to distant future so I can get another chance at this.

Not really sure what is going on in this wine.woot commentary. It is days like these that I feel sorry for the wine seller and want to buy, just to counteract the strange twists/turns of the commentary. Will try to be last sucker later...

WD, I am glad I got in on this deal, however according to the stats above it shows that I didn't. I am not too worried as it shows in "Stuff you bought" and I have the confirmation email. Maybe it is just a hiccup with the new software?
