Finally! I have three aerators and have been looking to buy just the tower, and not another aerator too.

In for one tower.

I have one of these, but it's not a necessary wine accessory.
Yes, it forces oxygen interaction with your wine, but so does a minute of vigorous swirling or, a couple of serious shakes of an open bottle. My 2 cents: Save your money for wine!

These are wonderful! Be careful when you open the aerator itself though, it sort of looks like there is a slight crack in the sides of the product. This is supposed to be there. It happens in the molding process when it's being made. So don't go thinking you received a defective product, it's meant to be there

Short answer yes. I have found that I still prefer to open the bottle ahead of time and let it aerate on its own, or decant, but a lot of times patience is not my strong point so I use the vinturi and it definitely makes a difference with the wine.

Without question these work, in my humble opinion.

I was skeptical of aerators when I bought this, but it does make a ton of difference. We even did some blind taste tests for fun, and everyone could tell which glass had been aerated.

In other words, if you don't decant wine, this is the product for you.

Aerators are fun, but I find them of limited value.

First, not all wines benefit from aeration (but many do).

Second, you can achieve aeration in the bottle (uncork it 1-6 hours before drinking), in a decanter, or in the glass. The extra step of pouring through an aerator probably accelerates the aeration by 30 minutes or so when used correctly (ie, slowly).

I have both the Vinturi and the globe-like aerator that Woot sometimes sells that sits on top of the bottle. The vinturi is fine, although I don't understand how they can get away with selling a red version AND a white version - they're basically the same. However, the globe-like one is my favorite. I find it more effective and more fun to use, plus it's prettier and it's glass. It just seems like a better product for the same money.

Hope that helps...

I bought the vinturi wine aerator the last time it was on woot. I have found that it works as advertised. It's a great little tool to have for when you want to drink a glass of good wine, but don't want to decant a whole bottle. I've found it's even improved the flavor of my every day bottles.

BB&B sells the aerator w/ tower for $70. This is a great deal!

Been using both tower and aerator for about 18 months, Really like it however be advised you have to slow down on the pour or spillage occurs, terrible waste of wine

But this price is for one or the other, not both.

The aerator is $29.50 on amazon (for a whopping $1.50 discount), the stand is $33.

Almost certainly not. My belief is that they differ only in color coding or similar so that you can have all of them out on display at a party without continually washing them.

Perhaps the size of the air channels might be a bit different, but would that really make a big difference? Probably not that much...

The comments about letting your wine aerate for several hours is great if you have a good bottle of wine. For those of us who drink less expensive wine (and sometime a lot more than we were expecting several hours previous) the aerator is awesome. It can turn a young and somewhat ugly wine into something more palatable. For example, a Yellow Tail merlot is pretty rough without uncorking (and not really that good even after several hours) but with the aerator you can at least drink it. :D

Wouldn't mind having an aerator, but I can get it from Amazon with 2-day shipping for $1.50 or so more, and not have to make an impulse buy.

We have an aerator (different brand; same prinicple) and have found that many wines do benefit from its use - some of the them to a startling degree.

Being able to aerate just one glass at a time is a major advantage with these.

Amazon has the Vinturi Deluxe Aerator Gift Set - which is both the aerator AND the tower stand (this woot deal is for one or the other only.)

The Amazon price for both is $59, but it includes free 2-day delivery.

So it's three dollars more for 2-day delivery.

The spirit is quite different; different sized holes and dispenses a measured amount, unlike either the white or red that are continuous flow devices.

I bought my first Vinturi here in Oct 2009.

I liked it so much I purchased 2 more as gifts the next time I saw it offered in Dec 2009.

I've had both the Soiree and Vinturi, and the Vinturi is leaps and bounds better than the Soiree. Popped and poured a bottle, tasted without either one, tasted with Soiree, and tasted with Vinturi. Vinturi opened it up much more than the Soiree. Plus, the Vinturi makes a cool sound when aerating.

If decanting, it's not necessary, but for those with no foresight, it's a great addition.

I agree the Vinturi works but most of the time it depends on your preference, the wine, or both. As an example, wife and I have enjoyed the same bottle of wine-her w/o vinturi whereas I vinturied it (like the use of vinturi as a verb, huh). Another example is the Blitzen wine. We both agreed the Vinturi smoothed out that wine noticeably. My point: get it and use it when necessary but not always. Some winers are better left alone.

Also, Mother's Day is coming up. I gave one to my mom and another to my step-mom this past year for Christmas.

Why not just decant by putting it in a blender?

Sooooo...

I bought this thinking Mother's Day gift. I thought "even smartpost couldn't take more than two weeks". I didn't anticipate that two weeks later IT WOULDN'T EVEN HAVE SHIPPED YET. Well played woot... well played.

I agree. I bought something several days later in a different woot and received it yesterday. I guess I will be toasting Mothers' Day with un-aerated wine.
