Bought their PV at the tasting room last August... I remember neither the vintage nor my tasting notes -- both at home. But it was the only bottle of Ty I bought, so I must have liked it.

Anyone had this? I'm on the fence as this isn't a grape I'm all that familiar with as a stand-alone wine.

Neat! Pure PV! The only other pure PV I've seen recently is the Vina Alicia Petit Verdot Cuarzo out of Mendoza, Argentina.

Yes, I am replying to myself. Looking at the Ty website, this was released in Feb 2012, so I likely bought the 2009 vintage, so I have no clue how they did in 2010, but I did enjoy the 2009.

It is a blending grape in France

In for one. I'm always a sucker for the Ty Caton.

Looks like this offer was meant for after Mother's day but before Father's day. Maybe WW needed a filler for the poorly selling wine holder....

The write, despite the already pointed out typo, sound really delicious (I think that's the technical term for a tasty wine?) But for me the price is just too high. Given all the people that have Ty on their autobuy list, I would think this should sell out really fast.

That was the previous vintage, the 2009. Thsi wine comes from a little 2 acrew vineyard out behind my parents house on the west side of Sonoma Valley. We got 1.5 tons and only 117 cases. It's a very nice wine.

Yes, Corrado you've probably had this blended with Cabernet. There are very few stand alone Petit Verdots out there. It's a very big, bold wine known for it's color (much like Petite Sirah is)

Hi Ty!

What's the drinking window on this one? My cellar is filling up with your wines that I'm holding for the right time to drink them (50 bottles of TC at the moment...) Thanks!

Funny thing, we were at a big Sonoma wines tasting last night and kept asking everyone whether anyone had a 100% PV! We had an excellent one - once - at another big tasting event (we can't remember for sure but think it was Darms Lane). In any event, can you describe this a bit more and what is the drinking window on these?

Ty Caton is an auto-buy for me! Wanted to go after two, but only hit one. I could be kicking myself later, but I have too much juice already. I think I've got a severe case of Wootitis. Luckily though, I haven't broken out in a rash yet!!

Thanks for the reply, Ty. I've had it in blends (obviously) and knew its reputation, but (as has been mentioned above) it's rare to see it as a stand-alone; I believe Kent did a PV several years ago.

Based on the fact that you took the time to pop in and your wines are virtually an auto-buy, you talked me into it.

I do drink this wine now after decanting for 20-30 minutes. Or you can use something like a venturi or decantus.

PV is a terrific aging grape. It could easily go 10-12 years. But, as usual I would say best to drink within 3-5. As I stated in an earlier post, can drink now with some decanting.

Hi Ty

Enjoyed meeting you when you were in Sarasota. Only have one bottle left from the bottles purchased that night, so I'm in for a taste of PV. Hope all is well, and thanks!

If you develop that Wootitis rash, know that the only known cure is to continue Wooting. Its that serious. Also I hear grapes and therefore wines have great quantities of antioxidents - that should fix up any issues right there!

This sounds odd, but 'bramble' is usually used to signify 'blackberry' or 'raspberry', due the bushes being referred to as brambles, for their thorns.

Too bad, too, cuz we've had direct shipping here for about two years. *sigh*

i know this might be a difficult answer to produce but Ty, do you have any info on when these might ship? it's getting painfully close to 80's all the time here and i'm worried it's getting too hot.

also, what food would this pair well with?
