2007 Cabot Vineyards Syrah Kimberly's

If you get a chance buy some, this is some of the best Cali Syrah I have had.

Wellington 2006 Merlot. Was missing the intense strawberry I remember, but a nice drinking wine nonetheless.

5 bottles being opened tonight at the fire pit. Not too sure which ones, but I will try to report back later tonight (or tomorrow with the results)

07 Keller Estates Syrah has been in the decanter for an hour so far though.

New Belgium 1554 enlightened black ale with chicken mushroom and asparagus risotto.

Crappy beer. Then whiskey. Leaving tomorrow so I don't want to open a bottle and waste the rest.

I stuck to the reds and let my wife and the pretty girls giggle with the blush and whites while making jokes about the names as the night went on.

Johnnie Walker Green and Glenlevit 21 closed the night down for us gentlemen.

Made due with a 2010 Kirkland Meritage I was curious about, Grahams Six Grape and then into some 16 year Lagavulin, love that smokey pete that just goes on-and-on-and-on...

My wife and her friends like sweet dessert style wines (but not ports). For them it was great. A couple of them took bottles home with them.

I tasted it just to ensue it was fine. It was, wait for it, sweet and bubbly. VERY fruity with tastes of honeydew and honeysuckles. Lots of sweetness to it.

Not really my type of wine, but the wife loves it. Koolaid for those that don't like wine I would say.

I just opened my last bottle of the Boss Monster -- somewhat harsh, but I'm hoping it will mellow with some time in the glass.

I agree that it has lost a lot and is approaching 'Game Over', but I can still taste a remnant of what I once thought was a pretty tasty drinker.

Hats off to WW for what was a tasty QPR when it was in its prime. I recall a surprising warmth of vanilla when the wine was still young and fresh (sadly gone now). Even if it does not mellow, there is enough for me to enjoy now and reflect fondly on the first couple of bottles.

If you have neglected a bottle in your stash, make haste...


[Edit: While it is not coming through on the tongue, I just caught a whiff of that vanilla...ahhh. Not sure why or if I should like vanilla in my wine, but it was a nice complement to the overall finish.]

04 gazzi syrah. Ok for the price but a little too woodsy for me. I only had two bottles and I am glad that i did. You get some nice tart fruit right at the start but it fades into a lot of oak.

I would not purchase it with so much bottle age, if a syrah from this winery were offered again.

I had hot Italian sausage sandwiches with sautéed peppers and onions. With BBQ corn on the cob.

The strong flavors of the food helped mask the oak making this a descent food wine

2008 Twisted Oak Syrah-Viognier

Not a food wine but delicious to drink while making dinner! Spice and blackberry's for days long finish.

2010 Tablas Creek Vermentino

Just opened the '06 Pedroncelli Four Grapes Vintage Port. Upon opening the bottle and sniffing the cork, I was like "melt"! This has a most yummy nose: MAJOR black cherries and and caramel. On the tongue, black cherries and plum. It is oh, so good!

Lots and lots of water and some gatorade to prepare for tomorrows huge wine festival.

2005 David Fulton Petite Sirah

BBQ ribs, corn on cob, Chinese broccoli w/balsamic (no not the good stuff), taters and SH 2008 InZin.
Pretty darn tasty and a step up from some recent bottles.

2005 Vino Noceto Sangiovese Riserva

Put a few years on these and they are really good!

Some Cambozola on hot bread, Nice with the SH Zin.
Following with some homemade creme brulee and Grahams port,
now into the Glenmorangie Nectar D'or on recommendation.
Wonderful sweet nose, and so smooth.
Four FedEx deliveries picked up.

I am thinking light and dry today. I can't believe I am going to write this, but a blush is going to be opened while I clean the garage.

Plans changed. Opened 2005 Formula Shiraz (Austrailia). Horrible. Poured down the drain.

Fresh caught (by us) salmon 3 ways with Henry of Pelham 2008 Niagara VQA Pinot Noir.

Drank a 2008 Furthermore Pinot Noir Bohemian Vineyard tonight acquired via vouchers off a different deal site. Very interesting Pinot and definitely not the usual RRV Pinot.

I purchased a horizontal Pinot pack from this producer. Different vineyards, same vintage, so I'm eager to see the differences.

5/28/2012 rated 90 points: This is a very interesting and layered Pinot for RRV. Not what I'm used to tasting out of that area. It's got almost a Cab Franc quality to it with the mix of herbaciousness and eucalyptus. I'm getting more black cherry than tart cherry out of this one as well

You gotta be an old timer for this one: 2004 Madison Cellars Syrah. It is drinking perfect tonight. I'm going to kill the bottle and pass out.

Finishing off a 2008 InZin I opened a couple days ago. Lots of fruit here but way more than that alone. Held up nicely.
