I don't know what made me do it, but I googled wine pairing with CB&C. Results all over the place but tending white with Vio or Riesling, and bubbly, but, a Dolcetto was also mentioned. Not sure I trust coincidences. Should have grabbed the Concannon if I'd known, but Guinness and Jameson may get the nod unless others provide inspiration.

For me... 2010 Windy Oaks Estate Pinot Noir Estate Cuvée Schultze Family Vineyard and loving it!

We need to buy some of these I know you would enjoy!

2007 Zinfandel by Double Oak Vineyards.

This is a winery near Grass Valley California that I visited this weekend. All the grapes are grown on their property and the most expensive wine on their list is $16 a bottle. Nothing was actually spectacular but most things were more than serviceable especially at the prices. Highly recommended are there Cabernet Sauvignon and the Chardonnay.

Notable from tasting at multiple wineries this weekend is that 2008 was a very poor year for this area given the brushfires. All of those wines taste, at best, like a campfire.

Little or no anything -- tannin, fruit, mushroom/earth, body, acid, interest, emotion, anything. Every OR PN I've had has been like this.

Cava and Viogner. Ill look for the LH Moscato.

2010 Iron Horse Unoaked Chardonnay. Excellent. Round, maybe it had some ML fermentation, but it's still bright and light on its feet. Fantastic value from Costco.

Here are my CT notes:
This wine is very perfumed. Nose of tropical fruits, citrus blossoms, and pie crust. Color is of straw. Good acidity; seems to have a slight effervescence that dies quite quickly in the glass. Flavors of citrus and tropical fruits with a floral finish. Crisp and clean.

If I could add an addendum, I would note that, as the wine came closer to room temperature, citrus oil started showing on the palate. This is a well made Viognier, and I agree, Jon is a great guy! We tried what seemed like his entire lineup while at his tasting room with some woot folks; everything was well crafted and very expressive.

well that sucked... drove all the way to Trader Joes and they didn't have 1 out of the 3 wines you and RJ recommended!!! they say it is an east/west coast thing.....grrrrr... oh well I did pick up 3 proseccos to try... and 2 "fun" wines ie.. I bought because of their labels...

2010 Columbia Crest Grand Estates Cabernet, which I opened last night.

Last night, through a Vinturi, it was pretty good considering the $11 price tag. Tonight... not so much. Didn't even pour it through the Vinturi, figuring it had 24 hours in the bottle with some air already. But it's pretty well spent. The pleasant tannins from last night are completely missing, as is most of the fruit.

This is a recurring problem for me. The wife prefers whites, though will sometimes drink red. Lots of bottles are opened and not completely consumed before they're spent.
