Finishing off 2007 Lang Syrah from last night. Not better second day...lost much of the fruit. I'd say drink in one sitting...for the price a decent syrah but nothing I'd go back for...

While at Whole Foods today I spotted a bottle of 2009 (Enos Vineyards) Tramonto Zinfandel RRV. So, since we just had Tramonto Rose, thanks to Texicaliali, I thought I'd give it a try. Pretty easy drinker. Good fruit. Not too expensive. For $18, worth the money.

Pretty sure. This one is much better. Cork was in perfect shape. More aromatic, much more fruit, dark cherry, medium acidity and finish. Still kicking. Glad I have 2 more bottles.

I remember it being very meaty/smokey at the gathering. Did you get any of that this time?

I still have a couple bottles of the '94. Turned out to be a nice steal from winebid.

No, Tallulah is much better IMHO. I honestly expected a bit more from the Burgess. It isn't bad at all, but if I paid $20 for them, I wouldn't be impressed.

Makes a fine daily drinker though for $13.

Not much smoke at first, but more is pushing through as it opens up. Definitely umami, but it's not a terribly complex wine. very good steal.

2006 Nicholas Cole Cellars Estate Reserve

2005 Arcadian Westerly Vineyard Syrah. This is tasting much better on night 2 to me, but it still doesn't measure up to the best Santa Ynez Syrahs I've had. Looks like I paid $16 on Woot for it, which is a decent price.

Having sparkys nephew and neice over for dinner. I know we're going to start with the pink zeppelin but not sure what after that.

Dinner is home made lasagna with garlic bread and some kind of salad.

Color is a deep red but completely clear, wine is called pink but it is a much deeper hue than any rosé I have had before. Completely enjoyable and refreshing. Nose is reminiscent of a watermelon jolley rancher but without he sweetness. Not heavy in the least bit but packs a ton of flavor. Highly recommended.

Also enjoyed a 2011 trader joes vintage ale.
And trader joes petit reserve Viognier by Castoro cellars.

My first Bezerker Day wine:

Cellars 33 2008 RRV Pinot Noir. Delicious, and this was the one I was least excited about in the pack.

That's what I had too! The wine, not the pasta and pork. We had a pesto pizza with white and shiitake mushrooms, broccoli, and steak. Wasn't the best match, but the wine needed the time to open up somewhat anyway.

Oh, I quite enjoyed it. I'm not quite used to Meeker's style, this only being my third of his to try. I think it needed more time to fully express itself, and I'm not spending as much time these days making detailed notes. I've started to use CT most often as a way of triggering my memory to decide when to open the next
