I see what you mean on the OAK! Holy crap. Didn't get much more than that and alcohol. On the second night, it developed some floral notes that started to make their way through. Makes me think it needs some air prior to drinking, or more time in the bottle.

Cool to see our notes are so in line, albeit really basic -- oak + alc. Bummer the notes aren't more positive, though.

Wine Garage 2008 RRV Syrah. Every once in a while these guys really deliver an amazing QPR, and this fits the bill.

I just love Noceto's wines, very inexpensive and they age really well...not that I age anything too long

With an hour in the decanter it's drinking really well.

I opened a 2004 Madison Cellars Merlot a few months ago, delicious. How is the Syrah?

Looks like I'm out of the Syrah but still have a bottle of the Serendipity blend remaining. I've been very happy with their wine!

2006 Buttonwood Cab Franc, Santa Ynez Valley. Damn this stuff is good. Nice mid-weight wine with some bottle bouquet trying to emerge - it's developed some anise and eucalyptus to go with the fruit. I wish WD could source more of this for us.

Agree. I am a wine club member (imbiber) and love their Cab Franc. It is reasonably priced as well. Their Hawk Red blend is a great QPR! They also make a great SB.

I think they may be the centrepiece of my first wine tasting weekend now that I live in SoCal.
