Cool to see our notes are so in line, albeit really basic -- oak + alc. Bummer the notes aren't more positive, though.

Wine Garage 2008 RRV Syrah. Every once in a while these guys really deliver an amazing QPR, and this fits the bill.

I was suprised at how dark and inky the wine was, yet how light the body was.
I love this. While I have a few Turley zins laying around, I can't always handle those big Zins. This Charbono is light and restrained, with nice fruit integrated with silky tannins. Totally defied my expectations, in a very good way.

I have a '10. From what you and Doc. O. are saying, I should hold for a few more years (understanding it's a different vintage)?

Probably. I think this one is drinking well now. I think Turley's in general need some time (I have a couple of '09 Zins layin down), but I'm 'Charbono-ignorant'. I picked this up on a lark last year and I'm glad I did.

With an hour in the decanter it's drinking really well.
I'll open one of my four soon.

I'm going back for 4 more tomorrow to add to my remaining 2. This is good for $7 with spicy/sour food. (We had lemon chicken tonight.)

Agree. I am a wine club member (imbiber) and love their Cab Franc. It is reasonably priced as well. Their Hawk Red blend is a great QPR! They also make a great SB.
