Yep...tri-tip marinated in beer,soy sauce and garlic all day then grilled with garlic mashed potato's and grilled asparagus and tomatoes. Decanted for two hours, the acid and tannins were perfectly balanced with the fruit. Really a great bbq wine that I think will be fairly long lived, can't wait to try the 07's I bought.

Taft street rose of Pinot. With chicken and dumplings and wild rice.

Last bottle and perfect for the end of a hot SoCal Sunday afternoon. Topping out at 102 but its supposed to be 106 tomorrow.

Fabulous little dessert wine I picked up from an LB marathon. Nice nutty, honeyed apricot flavor. really wish I had some more of this.

2007 Roessler Savoy Vineyard. Holy s***! This is fantastic! Quite possibly the best pinot I've ever had. Tyger, that Griffin's Lair is probably ripping too.

Your going to make me wish I hadn't already opened up my 07' Brosseau vineyard pinot so early.

Found a beautiful whole red snapper at Wegman's, cooked some sliced potatoes and onions in evoo, dumped them in a baking dish, put the fish on top, poured some white wine over it all, and baked it for an hour. Basically what we had in Spain in August. Opened a bottle of Woot Cellars Albino Rhino. I think it still has some aging potential, but right now, it is really drinking well.

Not really. I wouldn't seek out a PN over something else, but man, this wine was DELICIOUS. I would grab it again in a second.

Opened my first and sadly only ww to date...the raised by wolves malbec...tasted really young. As a friend would say, we killed a baby. Will give the other bottle a year or two to smooth out.

A steal from the JJ Buckley clearance

Opened a 1998 Malvira Roero Superiore, which is 100% Nebbiolo.

Light bright red in color, acidic/tannic. A little tart, actually.

Not quite sure if this is past its prime, or if it needs a few more hours to open up. Will check back later.


edit: Didn't open up into too much else.

11' McClean Viognier

Viognier was interesting, muted yellow with fresh cut peaches on the nose and smelled crisp. The palate was a whole different deal. Much softer than I was anticipating and but continued with the peaches. Finish was medium and tart/sour. I would not pick it up again.

With BBQ chicken and rice pilaf.

What did you think? I like dusi fruit, but not from tobin. One of the few bottles I have poured out recently. Ours was thick (syrup), sweet, and served on an oak chip.

Tobin's wines are certainly a specific style. SWMBO really likes them. And every once in a while, I like a glass or two. It's certainly not an every day wine for me, though.

THe weather is definitely changing, so I declared tonight "lasagne night" and invited a few dear friends over. We'll be starting with a Vino Noceto 2007 Sangiovese Riserva (I put a little in the lasagne sauce, too)....and will continue the evening with a 1998 Pertimali (Sassetti Livio) Brunello di Montalcino.

Wellington 2010 Chardonnay. Almost has that crisp green apple taste, but much softer. You have to hunt for the oak. Nice and smooth, but you knew that because hey, Wellington :-P

I really dislike chard. but love Peter's. I was bummed it was in a club shipment until I tasted it.

Going to finish off the Iron Horse 2000 Blend 1 - T-bar-T Vineyard we opened the other day. It was delicious, and I was able to snag another bottle from K&L, but they appear to be the last ones.

Later we'll likely open a dessert wine.

2010 Caymus Cab. Man, was it delicious. Far too young to open, but when you're out to eat dinner, you're not really given a choice.

I have some of their Special Select. Will definitely have to get some of their "regular" cab as well.

2006 Reininger Helix Pomatia

This one is about at the end of its window, IMHO. Still very drinkable and good, just not much left to develop. We have enjoyed this wine every time we have opened a bottle.

Dark red color, still some cherry on the nose and palate. Medium tannins.

Tri3 and then Used Auto Parts port. Really good, and the UAP was really good.

Tri3 and some Clos LaChance Nectar I snagged while on the rpm bus tour with the iPad, sweet on both counts.

Municipal winemakers 2011 bright white dry Riesling Santa Barbara county
Pale yellow and clear, nose is tart with some mineral notes, taste is primarily green apples but has some floral notes as well. It really pops on the tongue while the nose is very subdued. The acid comes out in the finish and lends itself to the tartness, it s dry.

Overall the wine is wonderfully subdued has some nice acid and does not slap you in the face with fruit or sweetness.

Wellington 07' merlot Sonoma valley
This is a great food wine. It has some nice rounded red fruit with some plum notes. Mildly tannic and full bodied. It will not overpower red meats but will compliment them. Not as soft as a typical merlot but not as aggressive as a good young cab. Highly recommended at the sub $20 that I paid for it.
