At a retirement party, someone brought a Domenico Wines 2001 100% Syrah. No location specified other than California. Half the bottle left so I'll do a more critical tasting tomorrow.

At our (zTimBz and I) lockers, drinking Cabs!

I also opened a 2004 LH Pinot Blanc (Shadow Canyon). TB opened a 1962 Madeira.


Someone has to put WD's kids thru college, but why does it have to be me!

Started out as a Jana kinda afternoon, 2008 Rose followed by Long five Year Tirage Brut Blanc de Noir PN with miso steamed mussels.
Moved on to 2011 Meiomi PN, grilled steak and 2006 Dignus One Cab Sauv to help me decide if I ~need~ more, and finished up with the 2007 Lang Apres! for some and Nectar D'or for others.

I've been really iffy on the two of these I have had so maybe not a bad bottle.

Tonight: Pedroncelli mother clone Zin from the tour. Nothing to write home about but not bad for $15. Won't stand up to the buena vista ramal pinots that were the same price though.

We had a 2009 Aubert Larry Hyde & Sons Chardonnay last night. Was really very good, but probably not worth its list-price. Still very enjoyable though - the oak really helped to focus the flavors instead of overpowering them.

I have been dormant for a little while, however tonight is:

2004 Louis Jadot Santenay Clos de Malte with some citrus peppered salmon.

This chardonnay is on the tail end of its drinking window, however it paired nicely with the fish. It is a crisp chard that is not buttery at all. I wasn't in the mood for a dry Riesling, so it worked out well.

First bottle was Stuart cellars 08' Zin. - cooked, poured down the drain.

2nd bottle R2 09' Black Pine pinot noir
Slightly smoky, nice coloring and mouth feel and a good amount of red fruit. Would purchase again at sub $20.

The wife opened a pine ridge Chenin Blanc + viognier which she enjoyed quite a bit.
