Im drinking Coors Light.

Not sure. I thought my cold had faded enough to enjoy the wine but apparently not. I smell nothing. Mouthfeel is great but is a little thin at the finish which I guess is typical for a lighter wine. My wife noted leather and earth so it either hasn't opened up yet or the fruit is fading. I'm guessing it's the former.

Edit: boo! on the coors light.

Double edit: there's the black cherry I remembered. Just needed a little time to open up.

Where's the update.

Funny, kinda thing, Just did a FedEx pickup, and it seems Rickards had mailed, USPS, me an offer for recent WW purchasers, to the FedEx address. Humm, dated 8/3, just delivered to me today by the FedEx crew.
Expired 8/17.

They do much better with the wine than they do with USPS deliveries.

To be honest, it was a little disappointing. It was hot, the alcohol overpowered the fruit, and never blew off. Perhaps they were "drink NOW" wines, and the fruit fadded. I'm hoping the second type of Zin in the deal (which is lower alcohol) is better.

Was it the 2009 J. Rickards Zinfandel Old Vine 1908 Brignoli Vineyard we got back in April? I hadn't even thought about opening that one yet. Guess the expired coupon can stay expired.

That was the one, pretty disappointed in it. I wouldn't buy them again based on that bottle, perhaps the other blend is better (hopefully).

Opened a 2003 Chateau Faugeres Saint-Emilion Grand Cru tonight. It was great! Definitely a nice bottle of wine. Deep red/garnet color. Fig/raisin on the nose and palate. Full-bodied with nice, soft, round tannins and a long finish. A lovely wine that I hope I have more, but I'm pretty sure this is my last bottle.

$9 for a dessert wine is insane. For the price, it's more than serviceable. Better on day 2. Did you get any?

We liked the 2010, and were disappointed when they sold out. This was a trial bottle to see if we want to go all in.

For $7 it turns out to be a nice summer sipper. We are going to be loading up.

Forced into pulling a cork on the current 2009 Denier Handal Vineyard Zinfandel for the benefit of all consumers of fine beverages: I find;

More spice, pepper, fruit this evening. I really should open purchased bottles more often.
Half bottle gone, half pizza gone;
I'm in for more...

The pizza really was better than the pic. Woot photographer, I'm not! Especially after a half bottle..

It's Cab night, so I picked up a couple of strip steaks and baking potatoes, and opened a bottle of '97 Opus One. Word on CT was that it is past its prime. Thought about decanting it, but the crumbling cork made that decision moot. Actually, it opened up wonderfully over the course of the meal, after 45 minutes in the decanter. Lots of dark berries, a bit of cocoa and leather. An excellent choice for the steaks.

$6 at TJ's. It stands up to $10-$14 SBs. It's kind of a CA/NZ-style blend. Gooseberry, melon, but lacks the real grassyness of the NZ stuff.
