In honor of bowtie the SA cherry wheat. Not as good as he says but not as dreadful as Kyles description. I would put it in the clearly drinkable category. And for the record I hate pumpkin beers.

At the pre-shipping price, it's insane. At the shipped price, it's still a buy. I'm finishing off the rest with my late lunch. Hopefully, it's as good on day 2.

Drinking during lunch on a Wednesday? If I could be so lucky... For those days when nothing critical is going on after lunch. Just a glass, this society isn't that civilized unfortunately.

I started "Wine Fridays" at work...unfortunately I seem to be the only one providing the wine :/

Unfortunately the rare couple of times others have brought something, it was pretty cheap/bad stuff.

Before management majorly cracked down it was common place for folks in my department to take a 2 hour lunch with drinks. That was about 6-7 years ago and its definitely been cleaned up.

I once walked into the bar area of a restraunt right next to my office and found all 6 of my project leads all sitting at the bar destroying their livers. From that point on I figured no one really cared.

Insane QPR at the price you paid. Solid QPR at club price with shipping @ $12. Seriously good juice for the price.

Broc Cellars 2008 Dry Stack Grenache. Yum. Less earthy than most Grenaches out there, but a very nice combination of strawberry, mineral, and a hint of earth and the spice quotient has been increasing the longer it's been open. I see why texacaliali loved these guys.

2006 Mount Veeder Reserve

This wine is full of dark ripe flavors as well as huge amounts of dry tannins.

It is very deeply concentrated but really isn't a food wine. I'll keep my remaining two to drink at least 5 years from now but won't be getting any more even at the $36 sale price much less the $80 MSRP. I am definitely enjoying less ripe wines these days.

Decanted a bottle of 2007 Pope Valley (Napa Valley) Merlot Eakle Ranch.

Very nice, clean, French/old world style merlot. Just gets better the more it opens up, went great with BBQ'd pulled chicken.

2011 Wellington duchess
Nice light chard notes of green apple with a nice acidic backbone of SB. Great QPR.

2005 Cigliuti Barbaresco Serraboella truly a great wine! will last a long long time.

Broc is great wine - I picked up the Carbonic Carignane mag set... can't wait to pop those.

Realizing that my summer has been primarily simple local NY-state roses and crisp whites - I've decided to do some "educational drinking" this week/end.
Savioe is a region that has always intrigued me (whites with overwhelming minerality and acidity), so I picked up half a case of bottles from the area for 'learning'.
Jaquerere, Monduese, Pinot Noir, and Rousette party at my place this week!

I decanted for an hour and the floral aromatics, rose petals are room filling and beautiful. Taste sweet cherry, tart cherry, cranberry, black tea, nutmeg, spice cake so many flavor components I can't remember them all. But the balance and structure were so defined and perfect you could pick every part of this wine apart, tannin's and acid are still strong which does not bother me I like young and well aged wines, the finish last's forever! It would be a wonderful food wine but it was all I could do to just sit, smell, taste and think about this wine for 3 hours last night. It will be a fight for me to cellar these and I have no idea how long it will last but I will try again in a couple of years. Great Producer!

While I loved past vintages, I was concerned about the '09 based on CT comments re: balance.
Paired it with a basil coconut curry tonight, and it was a freakin' rockstar. Huge minerality, fresh acidity, great stone fruit, hint of RS - a perfect foil to the spicy curry, and everything that makes chenin a delicious grape.

'09 Turley Juvenile Zin. Hoping it'll go well with my MIL's pho.
