Finishing up some leftovers from weeks ago.
Both in small bottles, 187 and 375, with Ar upright in fridge.

2006 Buena Vista Pinot Noir Estate Vineyard Series Ramal Vineyard
this still has loads of fruit, some earth, with a long graceful finish. Drink or hold.

2007 Wellington Vineyards Syrah England Crest
Dark reserved fruit and a bit of funk on the nose, both carry to palate, nice fine tannins and a medium finish. A bit of sludge at the bottom of this one. Really thinking the funk is just a touch of Brett, that I've not noticed before, that really makes this interesting.
Drink or hold.

Both improved with extended time after initial opening. Happy I have more of both for years to come.

2010 madrigal Sauvignon Blanc. Got from grocery outlet for four dollars. Not bad. Certainly over the hill for a SB. Wouldn't have complained about this for $4 for a glass at a restaurant so I can't really complain as $4 a bottle at home. Their Petite Sirah is far better though (duh!) but costs nine times as much.

What do you think about it? Had it last night and curious about your thoughts. On a side note, sucks you didn't find the Qupe Syrah at F&E. An awesome find at $5.99 imo

I'd take 3 if you were going tomorrow anyway. If it's just for me, don't sweat it. And this doesn't count for my 3 months. $6 wine doesn't count.

Oops. Who was that masked man?

Went to the 11th annual Grand River Valley Ice Wine Festival in NE Ohio today. Sampled the following;

2011 Debonné Vineyards Vidal Blanc Ice Wine
2013 Debonné Vineyards Vidal Blanc Ice Wine
Red Eagle Distillery Bourbon & Ice Wine cocktail in mini-Martini glass
2013 South River Vineyard Blush Ice Wine
2013 South River Vineyard Concord Ice Wine
NV Grand River Cellars Vidal Blanc Ice Wine
NV Grand River Cellars Concord Port
2012 St. Joseph Vineyards Late Harvest Vidal Blanc
2012 St. Joseph Vineyards Vidal Blanc Ice Wine
2010 St. Joseph Vineyards Sangiovese
2013 Ferrante Vidal Blanc
2013 Ferrante Vidal Blanc Ice Wine
2013 Ferrante Signature Series Riesling

Special note about the last winery - Ferrante. They won the Sweepstake Prize at the 2014 San Francisco Chronicle wine competition in the Dessert wine category with their 2012 Vidal Blanc Ice Wine. I know Gold medals don't mean all that much but in order to claim this prize, it required a unanimous vote of all 60 judges. There were only 8 Sweepstake winners out of over 5,800 wines from 1,500 wineries in 25 states.

I purchased a bottle and will be bringing it to the Wooster, OH wine dinner with Scott and Jana Harvey on the 15th. I would have considered saving it for the rpm tour if I was sure there was going to be one...
