that sucks!! it never fails down here, we get into the 30's or even 20's and the maintenance head honchos forget to send someone out to turn on the boilers... so we freeze(60 or less in some of the classrooms)... then they remember... as the temps finally rise... then they cook us....

I'm sure you'll retire if you win the $5m CA lottery tomorrow. But won't you feel stupid when you realize you should have purchased a Mega Millions ticket instead ;)

I'm fairly certain this is going to get modded out over on kiddie woot, but I had to mention it:

I just want to make sure I got this straight.....No link to wine.woot because wine is not child appropriate.

Ad for gigantic knife of destruction fine, because what child doesn't need a folding knife that looks like it would gut two people simultaneously while tickling the happy package of a third. I know I just got MY Christmas shopping done early.

Perhaps you should have read more ....

California is unique among the Mega Millions participants in that all nine prize levels for Mega Millions within its borders are always parimutuel, rather than each non-jackpot prize having a set value. This leads to different prize amounts for equivalent winners sold in California when compared to those sold in other participating states. E.g., the normal second prize in the other Mega Millions jurisdictions is $250,000; it is not unheard of for that prize level to pay over $1 million to a California Mega Millions winner. The second prize pool within California frequently rolls; it is, in effect, a "secondary jackpot".

Yes, California joined in with other states on the MegaMillions game, but has it's own set of rules and payouts for tickets bought in CA. Which is why all tickets sold for it in CA have "CA Lottery" on them.

So we are both right. Darn it!

Ok, but the $540m jackpot has nothing to do with it... You just get more or less than the $250k and down prizes...

stop the insanity! with the jackpot up to 640 million estimate, there have been roughly 560 million tix sold since the last drawing, at 175 million odds, statistically there should be 3 winning tix

Sounds like tenuki is wishing that the Vincent Arroyo Open House would actually *be* a wine.woot get-together... That just happens to take place in the Vincent Arroyo tasting room and features the wines. And that only the NorCal wine.wooters would attend - not all of those other freeloading club members and riff-raff general peeps.

Does anyone else see someting wrong with this? (Real base-wide announcement that just went out...)

National Library Week will take place April 2-7. Stop by the library during National Library Week to check out an item or sign up for a library card and you'll be entered to win a gift card. On April 3, the [base] Library will host a story time with the Easter Bunny and a visit from some REAL bunnies from 4 - 6 p.m. For all of you cooks out there, bring in your greatest recipe to share at [the library] on April 5 from 5 - 6 p.m. Celebrate your library this April! For more information, please contact the Library.

So the library here not only lets you "Pat The Bunny", they help you serve it up an hour later?

Eh, just seeing if more norcal or lurking wine wooters might be interested. More the latter, I think I have contact info for most of the regulars anyway. I know it's not technically a wine.woot gathering but you're the easiest way to throw it out there

The fact that the armed services, in 2012, have EASTER bunnies visiting their libraries is a slightly bigger problem.

I totally hear Willie Nelson singing if you've got the money honey, I've got the time.

Haven't actually checked my lotto tickets to see if I won yet. I figure this way I'm kinda like schroedingers cat and a quasi winner of almost a half billion!

Too lazy to check how to spell that.

And yes, I hear you thinking c-a-t.

Hypothetical question:

Let's say one is taking their family to Vegas to go on a little vacation. Let's say said family plans to drive to Legoland in Carlsbad, and this family was looking at google maps and thought maybe it would be fun to drive through a couple National Parks--the Mojave Preserve and the Joshua Tree, specifically. Thoughts? Will it be interesting for a 7 & 10 yo?
