Those of you who purchased the 3L bottle in the first offer of this woot-off can use these 3 to refill it.

So this is 8 years old. Is it worth drinking?

How was the earlier gazzi Pinot that was offered here. If I recall that was also a prior I think Scott Harvey (insert favored woot vintner) vintage
And I really want another j dusi zin to come up

think of it as a bottle and a third! Extra for that thirsty neighbour who just dropped by

Scott Harvey didn't make this, as it was before his time consulting there, but I'm curious as to whether this is like the always excellent (if variable by bottle in taste) 2006. I hope it's pure 100% Pinot Noir, and I hope it's not too old!

My first bottle of the 06 was a little faded, if v tasty, but the rest, amazing! More to it than the D'Ontspille. I'd say they could have sold it retail for $25-30 quite easily , and I prefer it to the Radog also.

Wondering the same, can't find any CT info earlier than an '05 for Gazzi PN.

But for 3L do I hear sangria or cooking if it's plonk?

The 2008 is pretty darn good. I'm a little hesitant to buy this, though, without any reviews.

Perhaps the bottle being a liter allows it to be a bit longer lived.

Scott, I hope you're around to answer questions! How does this compare to the 2006, aside from the extra bit of age?

No reason it shouldn't be right in its prime. Pinot can go > 10 years if it's well structured.

Yeah, went through the same process. Do they go away after a while if there are no bottles in storage?

The blurb says drinkable through 2014 but I didn't get the impression that the old(?) Gazzi label was making wine to age 10 years.

Do I detect a new avatar for Richardhod?? And, yes... before biting on this one, I'd like a little more info from someone please!

SH made a comment on the Gazzi 2008 Pinot Noir back in February:
Gazzi has one left, then he is sold out except for small lots, 25 to 50 cases, that I'm making for firends and family. What is left is a 2004 Pinot Noir in one liter bottles, 85 cases of 6/1L. Again, a wine that I did not make. I did run the pH and make tasting notes. They are 3.42pH, medium color, leather, fleshy, beets, plum, allspice, marjoram, lavender, cranberry, steak tartar. Bright red fruit center and finish.

I agree, the 2004 Syrah was very tasty and ready to go.

Not sure about this 2004 PN, might be worth taking a flyer on, although the weird bottle size will be a PITA to store. I don't think Scott was the winemaker then right?

If you're going to order for delivery to LA, could you get a set for me as well? I can't figure out the logistics at this point but the 2006 was so good and I promised myself I'd get these if Scott offered them to us.

I impulse bought since I regretted not goin in on previous Gazzi offerings. Whats this I hear about it being from a different wine maker? Was I bamboozled?!? :O

Well... I'm in. High hopes, fingers crossed with something I don't have to hold on to for 10 years. I'm hoping it's got a GREAT year left.

I would agree with this fully. Just had a '99 Hawley Pinot with Paul the other day and it was fantastic. Surprisingly muted nose, but still very bright fruit and no signs of cloudiness. This offer is five years younger and with the PH Scott provided there is no reason to think this is over the hill.

I missed the '08 Gazzi PN buy in February, so I jumped on this one. Though Scott did not make this wine, he did test and sample it, so it should make a fine "drink now after a short travel nap" wine.

Would have grabbed two, but...

The 1 L bottles don't bother me too much - I have some boxes I made up that I can store 24 standard bottles in per box - work really well for handling the oversize bottles - just not as many, of course.

Regards,

Greg

Having sampled all the Gazzi pinots with Mr Harvey himself, I really enjoyed the 04 with the hints of steak tar tar. Really great terrior as the French would say. I remember sampling two bottles just to make sure!

Great idea! Just wanted to let everyone know that Scott will be having the grape stomping contest again this fall in St Helena!

All should come!

Alas, I need to stay away from "drink now" wines due to overstocking issues but this is a screaming deal!

Hmm... curious because it is at 8 years already. even with the larger bottle, will i still hold? cellar tracker put the '08 to hold by 2015, if we use the same math as this, the 04 should have been prime at '11... so it is a big gamble.
