still debating over getting a rental....

Apparently lvh is the hotel to be. Gotta check it out now.

It "should" be less expensive than a casino/hotel, especially with deals out there - usually non-gaming hotels are more expensive than non-gaming hotels.

What about one of the other Brazilian grill places - like Texas de Brazil on S. Las Vegas Blvd at Town Square, open til 10. Or is Fogo better? I have not been to either. Yelp reviews are good for both.

I don't see a problem with getting to Fogo by 7:30 if we go straight from Valley of Fire to dinner.

Ditto. LVH has a casino, or at least they did.

I think sanity meant that because a gaming hotel gets income from gambling, they can offer lower room costs.

Gotcha. Didn't know which way she meant. I think I'm just gonna stay with La Quinta.

Also, where are we gonna go for dinner on Friday? Where shall we meet up?

Mark is right - gaming hotels use gaming and to a lesser extent other things like dining to offset room rates.

not getting in until like 11pm, midnight-ish on friday, and really shouldn't be diet busting eating late night...

but

my late night snacking joint for vegas has always been ichiza on spring mountain rd... japanese izakaya, super crowded, no reservations taken after 7pm, people line up for hours for a seat here...

probably should just check in and go to sleep... we'll see...

Haha, was probably going to hit that up after I got in late Thursday as well.

If y'all want something different/off strip for Friday night I'd recommend bachi burger . No idea what y'all are looking for though.

Doesn't matter to me. The japanese place sounds good but since Imagine4vr doesn't do sushi that might be out. Hmmm. Choices.

hubby doesn't do sushi... I do... we are pretty open for any type of food... we will have the car, so we can give anyone a ride if need be...I haven't been to Vegas enough to suggest anyplace. we like the restaurants in Planet Hollywood... as long as it doesn't cost a small fortune..

Agreed on not costing a small fortune. Strip is easy but I've never really gone to restaurants off the strip. tenuki, suggestions?

None of the places mentioned have been sushi places even though they're both Japanese or fusion.

There's always in-n-out

Hop in imagine's car and have her kidnap y'all to wherever she wants to go?

Honestly hard to say partly because it's not a segment of food I do often. If y'all want on strip and sit down, Carnegie deli in mirage, Stripburger, Earl of Sandwich in PH (kinda food courty but good/cheap. Oh, go wander around Cosmo and do the no name pizza kitchen mentioned last time

Off strip Bachi or Ichiza really would be my first choices, or more chinese or thai places. They're where I eat when I go so ...

Then there's chainy stuff like Jason's Deli, Wingstop, etc. Peppermill (always ridiculously crowded/lines), etc.

tenuki gave good solid advice - food on the strip is expensive. Just off strip on east Flamingo there are several eateries (near where Fogo is).

South of the strip is Town Square where you'll find several eateries including a few chain places.

...and there's always In-N-Out.(;

I'll pass on in and out, not a huge fan. I'm always up for Thai food and there's a Thai place on my list to try, Lotus of Siam. Last year we had dinner one night at Firefly, a yummy, but loud tapas place. Both are off strip. Or we could pick a hotel, meet there and check out the restaurants and pick one that way.

mommadeb, where are you staying?

We can do that. We can wander about and find someplace that looks good/interesting.

I'm up for anything for dinner although not in-n-out since I live in California and can get it whenever.

I think we should meet at a hotel and then drive over to wherever we want to go. Whose hotel? I'm off the strip at La Quinta. So far, Imagine4vr and mommadeb1 and +1 for dinner. Anybody else?

Lotus of Siam is very good. Looooong wait usually.

DW is moving to Downtown, maybe? We've had so many yummy dinners there.

We also have been frequenting a fusion Ethiopian/American place by us, very good, and very pleasant atmosphere.

Vegas has a plethora of eating establishments.

...and I was joshing about In-N-Out. kinda.

Well, in-n-out is a must for people who can't get it so I understand. I was totally craving it when I lived in Florida for a year so... And I love thai food and DW sounds good too.

in terms of 'californian burger places'
i highly recommend fat burger over in n out...

affordable restaurants on the strip usually mean if the meal is comped by the casino... otherwise the prices are pretty outrageous... (unless you want to do the cheapo buffets) NOT WOOT FRIENDLY for sure haha
