Sounds like this would be an interesting exercise in wine drinking... But not a cheap one...

It sure would be nice to get a chance to order some wine here.... Only one to ship to my state lasted about 30 secs. What up WOOT?!?!?!

Ordered this last time but haven't had a chance to try it. Too bad I don't have a bottle with me at work to pop open.

can't comment on this offering but years ago I used to stop by on my way back and forth to the Southwest Research Station and they have some good wines. The Paw Paw area has some nice wine makers.

Who picked this up last time around? Who's had it before? I remember being interested and ended up letting the SIWBM stand. Cool climate = win, imo, but will still need some pushing to get me off the fence.

Already been there. The only wine today I would have been able to order was the "Tallulah Shake Ridge Vineyards Les Trois Voix GSM - 6 Pack" and that was over in the blink of an eye!

Having spent four years in college near St. Julian (Go Broncos!) we spent a fair amount of time in their tasting room. While I admit my palate wasn't nearly as sophisticated back in those days (and it's still decidedly not compared to many WWers) I was never supremely impressed by any of their offerings. This is their best label but I always thought of their wines as more of the "good table wine" variety.

If you ever have a chance to sample one of their infused brandies, however, yummmmm...

+1
Style, anyone? The stats looked French, and it was claimed so. How is it doing?

Now, of course if it were a St Julien...

Interestingly, in Hugh Johnson's wine guide, l.0g/l TA is considered balanced. Whereas in CA, 0.6 is considered (minimum) standard!

If I had a nickel for every time someone posted this......

I usually try to open at least one bottle from every woot within a week or so of receiving it. That way, I'll be ready for the pending Woot Off to provide some feedback and/or stock up on more!

Being from the Ohio, my intial thoughts on this wine from Michigan is, "it can't be any good". Can it?

- Ooooo a vertical! I love those! I'm in!
- What? Michigan? Maybe not...

(Lived in MI for a year - did not find an in-state wine I liked in that time. This may be the exception, but I'll hold off on this one.)

I lived in MI also for about 6 years. I would agree that most MI wines won't be much better than a good table wine. On the other hand, I also had a couple of the best US wines I've ever had while I was there. I don't know the science behind it, but seems like the cooler climate gives a truly talented wine maker the ability to make a very complex wine that just, dare I say it, tickles the pallet.

Just not sure at this price it's worth taking a chance. With only a few short hours left in the woot.off, I would hope some extra special items would come up....

Okay, I hate to be the negative voice on this one, but I bought this last time out because I had a $40 coupon burning a hole in my pocket, and it was due to expire in hours. This means I paid about $8 and change per bottle. I've already had the 2006, and I wasn't impressed. It's very light in color, almost like you'd expect a Zinfandel to be, and had none of that full bodied feel that a good solid Bordeaux style wine should have.

Cool climates are fine for the whites. I understand that this winery has a well regarded Riesling. Reds need the sun. They really do.

I've now tried the 2007, and it's a bit better. I hate to say anything bad because I'm selfish. I'd like to see it sell out, so that the next thing will show up. Still hoping for a nice red from El Jefe...

It takes months to find a customer, but only seconds to lose one.
The good news is that we should run out of them in no time.

I was able to buy the Tallulah Shake Ridge Vineyards Les Trois Voix GSM - 6 Pack. I started researching it after it came up, but it was going so fast I figured somebody else must know something, so I placed the order. Looking forward to giving it a try.

I've had some of their Reserve whites, and honestly was not that impressed. They were too acidic, almost gone bad but the corks appeared fine. Even for cooking I had a hard time with them, and I still have a couple left. I am curious about the reds but I think I'll hold off until I either have more space to fill up or enough funds to risk getting some wines from a winery that I haven't liked in the past.

That is some danged tasty stuff. You will not regret it. I'd had some from the last time out, and jumped right on it when I saw it come up. I tried to warn people that it would sell out fast, and it was sold out seconds after I'd made the post.

At this price, it's hard to ask people to TOFTM or even do it ourselves. Especially as the woot.off winds down and we've all spent so much money.

That being said, these would make a nice gift for our friends/family that don't have a knowledgeable pallet ;)

Consider one taken for the team. I will hope to be pleasantly surprised. If nothing else, I will wait until I get visitors from MI and impress them with the novelty of being able to do a vertical from MI.

Bring on the next offering please!

It pains me to report on this, as I am waiting for the next offering. I purchased this when it was on woot last. I opened a bottle (2009) to have with dinner just the other night. My girlfriend poured hers down the drain. I powered through mine, but then opened a bottle of Tallulah, figuring if this is open for a while it might help. It didn't. The Tallulah I opened was outstanding. The good news is - everyone's preferences are different, so just because I didn't like this doesn't mean you don't have to. Good Luck!

As much as I don't want to whine, I really would like to see what else is coming up on the woot off. Should I plan to be glued to my phone for the rest of the day or should I admit that I'm just not getting that Scott Harvey mixed case this time, or possibly any time again...?

Oh well, this stall is at least giving me the chance to look thru my old purchases and figure out which wines I have at the proper drinking window now and which ones need to sit a while longer... And perhaps which ones should now be relegated to an expensive brisket marinade...

Just wondering why you started with the 2009? I believe these were meant to age in the bottle for some time and the winery told us last offering that the 2006 was just now coming to it's own. Just curious as to why you started at the top of the vertical rather than the bottom?

Upon seeing that this wine was from MI, my initial thought was that it certainly can't be as good as the asking price would suggest. The few CT comments don't sway me either. Now if they were selling apples and taffy, I'd be interested.
