That's because Hershey's is crap and not worth 30 cents, much less $30. You give a Swiss chocolate lover a Hershey's and they will ask why you are trying to poison them.

Why? This will last me almost a year. Not to mention just because the economy is bad, doesn't mean I'm not going to spend money. It's not like I'm hurting.

I was on the fence for a little while but I enjoyed the last box enough to order another one today.
I'm not a huge fan of 41% chocolate, but i loved the 70% and the one chili bar last time.

Good timing too - I just finished the last batch about a month ago.

Yes, they will be a mess when the service member gets them. Sending chocolate coated candy or any hard candy is better. My wife sent some gummy bears that melted along with some special chocolate candies for my birthday during one of my deployments. All showed up quickly, but unfit to eat.

Thank you for your reply. Is there anything you would suggest for a care package -and not limited to candy? Any suggestion would be great! Thanks!

The chocolate does contain soy lecithin, its used as an emulsifier to bind the chocolate, sugar and cacao fat molecules as well as driving off excess humidity-we make chocolate in the Tropics! It's .04% by volume and soy is good for the heart!

Their chocolate is really amazing. I was blown away by the chili bar; it is on par with many of the (much) more expensive bars of chocolate I've tried. I bought their chocolate the last time they had this and handed individual bars out to my chocolate-loving friends. I would rate their 71% bar at 8.5 out of 10, and the chili bar a 9.5 out of 10. I would love to try the salt bar but dollars are tight right now. Curse you, wine.woot! CURSE YOU TO HECKS!

Yeah, and of course November means that it's cold everywhere! Oh, except for the Dallas area, where these will ship from, and it's supposed to be in the upper 70s/lower 80s next week...

However, I didn't see anyone complain about melting during shipping when these were sold last February, and it was almost as warm then.

Rain Republic guarantees that it does NOT use child labor or any other kind exploitation practice. We pay fair wages and above market prices for all of our ingredients. We work with the farmers to try to improve their products and trade conditions. And we also try to make fantastic chocolate!

We are pretty sure we are the only chocolate in the market in the US that uses Chile Cobanero. This particular kind of chili is only found in Guatemala and that has that great smokey spicy taste. That is worth the try!

Chocolate makes a great present any time, so with the holidays approaching, this represents a great option for the price, with the new flavors, there's bound to be something that pleases the palate of friends and family.

Hola! This is probably the wrong place to post this but I finally received the Metrokane Rabbit Wine Glass - Set of 4 package and frankly, the glasses look like Messi and Ronaldo played a less than friendly game of one on one soccer! Any way I can get a new set? I'll back it up with photo evidence if needed. Thanks.

calling 40% "dark" is rather absurd. It's milk chocolate, not dark chocolate

OK, I need some good chocolate and I'm going to give these guys the benefit of the doubt. I understand the challenges of small-lot production and it sounds like they have addressed any areas of concern.

EDIT: In for one!

There's an idea for your next flavor

EDIT: Maybe a spiced rum? Or port?

Would also like to give a hats off to whomever staged that chocolate on the plate for today's product photo. Very effective picture - it looks so delicious I keep staring at it!

I was in for one, until I read the soy ingredient. I had a flashback of the last Hershey's bar I spit out of my mouth. There is some new PGPBF? In there. Lets all get a spoon and try that. EEW. There is no substitute for the yummy Cocoa Butterz.

What? No child labor?!? Bummer. Now, I will enjoy the bars I ordered much less.

Seriously, how about offering just the dark chocolate in a ten-pack? We absolutely LOVE your chocolate!

I actually take Soy Lecithin as a vitamin supplement so I'm not too concerned about the fact that it's in the chocolate.

What is Soy Lecithin and Why is it Found in So Many Products?

Hola, PGPR is an unnatural chemical used as a substitute for any fat. Some larger companies are trying to expand the FDA regulations to allow this additive in chocolate by definition inorder to cut their costs. Don't let them. Start here: http://www.candyblog.net/blog/item/dont_mess_with_our_chocolate

At the Rain Republic, we do use soy, 0 .4% by volume, to improve the mouthfeel and drive off humidity as we process in the Tropics. Also, we don't substitute our all natural, heat pressed, non-deordized cacao butter with any chemical for any reason. Nice catch and be wary of any additives in your products-yucky.
