Are the esoterica wines more of his off-label? Is it better to think of them as non-mainstream wines that he likes to experiment/play with to see what he comes up with?

Esoterica's mantra is simple: Explore the nuances and uniqueness of rare, under-used and even unknown varieties and hopefully provide a ā€œsparkā€ for the wider acceptance of grapes that are ā€œdifferentā€! We've become so dependent here in Napa on certain grapes, so it's important to us to keep alive the thrill of discovery. Petite Sirah is the cornerstone wine for the Esoterica label, and each year we introduce small lots of interesting wines into the stable. These are brief glimpses of greatness, so get them when you can and stock up if you love them.

...and I'm with you, klezman, I'm very interested in the Sir Ron Yeah. (and every time I see or say the name, I chuckle!)

(and Re: All the other questions of the Graciano)

The Graciano is a Twisted Freak wine - basically, really extremely limited production, typically varietals that they only use for blending into their other wines. Those of us who went on the Twisted Excursion in February got to barrel taste the Graciano, and WOW it was good. We've been waiting since then for it to be bottled and released.

Well, it's finally being released to members of the Twisted Freaks. To answer sanity, yes, this is included in this month's Twisted Freak shipment, and you must be a Twisted Freak member to order it from the website.

Generally how it goes is I end up acting as the ordering Freak for everyone who wants stuff, so we can consolidate to get the free shipping and discounts and stuff, and then we distribute at a common gathering (Vegas seems to be a popular distribution gathering). If you think you'll be able to travel to one of the following major gathering spots, I will be happy to put in the order for you. I've already got a case full of Graciano in the works in anticipation of people wanting this one (10 bottles... 2 more bottles are in the case that are my Twisted Few shipment), and currently there are 7 up for grabs (2 for me, one for HAK for now, 7 left, can order more if needed).

I prefer payment via PayPal asap so it's not sitting on my credit card collecting interest Please PM the other me (cheron98) if you would like anything.

And no, no Sir Ron Yeah yet. My guess is that will be released when they finally get around to releasing the Parcel 17 Futures that we're also still waiting on.

That's what I figured, but that really doesn't explain the pinot noir that he offered on here in the past.

edit, when I was looking for some KR pinot, I found some KR Cab that I can't wait to try.

That one wasn't under his Esoterica label, and the other PN offers were under the Ramsey label, IIRC.

I think the Grenache Rose and the Late Harvest wines (the Ports too) were under the Esoterica label.

As Cat mentioned above, if Sir Ron Yeah isn't coming until the Parcel 17 futures, then I guess I will just have to get a whole lot of wine when next we meet. D&D? Although by then I *may* be living in the LA area.

Yeah, I should get some Graciano. Question is whether to order and ship here, order and ship to sanity, order with the rest of cat's stuff, or order and pick up at the winery en route to/from some skiing/hiking off Hwy 4.

So I escaped in time to get to MN. Back home, 18 inches of snow, and no power. With all the trees down since it was so wet and heavy, there are many main distribution lines damaged. It may take a couple of days to restore those before they can start to repair more local grid damage, etc. Over a week to get everyone back. My wife is still there. Fortunately, neighbors with a generator have here staying there tonight. No heat and no water with no power.

Not clear at this point if she will make it out for the wedding. Bad situation, but only long term damage will be lost trees.

Well, I would be interested in 2 bottles of Graciano, maybe 3. Cat, would it be possible to have some bottles be picked up? It's about 2 hour drive from where I am so I can pick up some wine for the northern California people. But not sure how that would work.

Held every February.
