sanity wrote:I'm getting an early start.....I'm enjoying a 2006 M'Hudi Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa. Very tasty. We last had this in May 2011. No fizz this time, but similar flavour. Slight petrol on the nose, slight floral, and passion fruit, too. The taste is lovely, a sister to a viognier perhaps. A slight grass, wood taste, some citrus (but not a grapefruit bomb), a little creme. Not as light and crisp as some summer drinkers, but very enjoyable. A little more substance in the mouth-feel, and a long, crisp finish.

I started back to work at my part-time job this week. Am I sore! For my job I wear a small notebook and am on my feet the entire time. Luckily, I only had about 3 hours each day.

Tomorrow, I am determined to ride my bike, maybe jut up to Mt Charleston to cool off.

Sounds delicious! You say petrol and it makes me wonder if there's some Riesling thing going on there too. I should see if there's any open wine here I can sample (working at the gf's place).

Glad you are back at work...the soreness will hopefully abate soon enough.

It is very enjoyable; only 13% alcohol, tastes like more, meaning a rich full mouthfeel.

On another note, I watched the 1st episode of Wilfred. I kept refusing, but caved. OK, now I'm watching the 2nd.

Don't know who you're talking about. I don't know any HAK. Unless you've started naming Truffle's hairballs?

And while those two (and others) may have "borrowed" them, it was usually after I had forgotten to post, and thus way later (after 6am or even later). Not before I'd had a chance to do so. You want to post b-day greetings before me, use your own birthday emoticons. Plus, IIRC, remember your own arguments from before, it's my thing.

Watched the 1st episode, but just couldn't get into it. To me, it was slightly better than Legend Quest, but not by much.

It was so nice today. Did a ton of yard work and took the kids to the park and chased my daughter all over. Had a quick Wendy's lunch, never again. I had two sandwiches and a fry off the value menu and it was like 1200 calories when I added it up. Screw that.

Does anyone have any experience with wines made from Zibibbo grapes? Looks like it is a Muscat variety but I've never heard of it before.

I picked up a 2008 Donnafugata Passito di Pantelleria Ben Ryé today at Costco ($20 at my Costco in Houston) on a whim. When I put it into CellarTracker, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Tanzer gave it a 94.

Just curious if anyone had had this wine or the grape.

HAK, this recipe is for you. I made this tonight, and the guests are currently fighting over the remaining pieces.

Flank steak rolls

Heat broiler on high, set rack about 6" below flame.

Slice a 1 lb flank steak at a 40+ degree angle so the slices are about 1/4 " thick, 2" wide, and the entire width of the slab of meat.

Shred 2 carrots, 1 red bell pepper, cored, and at least 8 scallion tops. Mix together (I shredded using the food processor, so they were all mixed together) with 1/4 tsp of salt.

Mix together 1/2 cup hoisin sauce with 2 tsp sriracha sauce (or tabasco if you don't have the other). Spread the sauce mixture over both sides of the meat strips. Put a little of the veggie mixture on the meat strip. Roll up tightly, secure with a toothpick, and set on a cookie sheet.

Cook for about 6 minutes, till very brown, then turn off heat and let sit in hot oven for about 3 minutes.

Serve over rice or lettuce mixture. You can slice the rolls into 2 or 3 pieces for bite-sized pieces.

I made half of the rolls (from a 2 lb flank steak) with no filling.

I adapted this from a fine cooking recipe. Major yum, and so easy to prepare.

Yep that was the one. It was very interesting taste, and my parents enjoyed it.

The wellington Zin wasnt very well received, but it was my fault I forgot to decant/soiree it, and it was just very tight and not very flavorful.

Opened my first of the 04' Arrowood Reserve Cab. that I picked up at the Bevmo 5 Cent sale and all I can say is that I wish I had picked up a few more.

Definitely in the fruit forward style, awesome juice. I will have to be on the look out for more of their bottles on sale.

I remember Kyle being interested, have you opened one yet? If so, thoughts?

One fry? How did you get 1 fry? And I admired you before, but to have the willpower to eat only 1 fry is amazing!

And I don't think the Baconator® Double (930 cal.) is on their Value Menu.

Value Menu:
Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe = 300 cal.
Monterey Ranch Crispy Chicken Sandwich = 400 cal.
Crispy Chicken Sandwich = 350 cal.
Value French Fries = 260 cal.

Not on Value Menu
Double Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger = 440 cal.
1/4 lb.* Single = 550 cal.

So guessing maybe:

Value French Fries = 260 cal.
Double Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger = 440 cal.
1/4 lb.* Single = 550 cal.

Totals: 1,220 cal.

I went for a ride today!

Rode to an early breakfast meeting with one of our motorcycle groups. Then after, we decided to ride up to Mt. Charleston. It was such a nice ride, and so cool up top, at about 9000 feet. We didn't want to come back down the mountain. 110 miles total, and just enough twisty-turnies to make the ride fun. It wasn't the prettiest I have ridden, but it was a start. And so hot when we got back. Thank goodness for a/c!

All wrong but the value fry. Throw in a Caesar chicken wrap for a whopping like 400 calories and a Monterrey Chicken Sandwich similarly fat and 1 pack fries and a 1/2 value chicken sandwich (I swear Wendy's is as bad as Mcdonald's. I didn't order that chicken sandwich but I got it, didn't get he Caesar wraps had to go in and get them and discuss with the manager the difficulty of putting food in bags) So since we were at the park I ate half the free sandwich though I didn't want it.)

Well, this was after 3 1/2 hours of hard core yard work so it all worked out fine and I didn't eat dinner cause we had that around 3:30 so I was never hungry again, then yesterday was a five hour zoo marathon. You can take my daughter to the Zoo, you can't get her OUT of the zoo. She loves that place. Thankfully, our zoo kicks ass. So I didn't feel any ill effects from the food.

Jealous. I spent the day with Sharks swimming all around me, but they were in a giant aquarium above me so thats cool. We need dolphins at this zoo. If I'm ever rich I'm donating a The Day the Ponies Come Back (2000) ton of money for exhibits.
