Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

In this case, I think I would vote 'all of the above'!

Actually, if I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be my Long Island ice teas. Or Jager and applesauce.

I prefer gin and tonics. I like Hendrick's gin with a slice of cucumber. Very refreshing.

I drink no distillates, at all. Thus, my favorite summer cocktail is wine of some kind.

Since I just spent 2 months making it, I vote limoncello!

Mine's a Rooty Tooty, Fruity Kazooty, which is basically a Tequila Sunrise made with Rum instead. Very refreshing out by the pool. Went swimming last night in a neighbor's pool; the water temp was 90 degrees already. But it felt good, because it was 97 yesterday here in Houston.

Hit us up with a recipe! I've tried before and ended up with vodka that smelled like limoncello but didn't really taste like it.

You're close: it's known just as Pimm's where most drink it. Nothing to do with cups at all! 8)

But quite right: it's the best summer drink. And easy to make from scratch at home...

I am a man, and I enjoy amaretto sours. There, I said it. It's the best to pop one of those in a nalgene, and spend a day at the pool.

Peach schnapps in ginger ale! You can't use much or the peach flavor gets all sickly sweet and weird, so sometimes I'll slosh in some vodka for more kick.

Well, I feel kinda dumb.
Haven't even had a cocktail today, but, I can't figure out how to *vote* on this thing.

Anyway, I tend to alternate between Tanqueray
& Tonic and Caipirinhas.

What's in a Pimm's anyway??

I have copious amounts of mint in the backyard, so I drink a lot of Juleps in the spring/summer/fall. There's Oregano in the front yard, but not sure you can make a drink with it.

Gin and Tonic for sure, but a good Mojito or Margarita can be good as well.

Sounds like something fun to try -- the cucumber sounds strange but obviously it has stood the test of time

Haven't had Pimm's in years (SWMBO doesn't like it, so we don't buy it....). I'm assuming you're referring to the No.1 Cup; I also seem to remember liking the No. 3, which I haven't seen since the later '60s or early '70s. When I was young, many bars that catered to a 'sophisticated' crowd would have two or three different Pimms Cups - always No. 1, often No.6 and/or No. 3. The only one I ever see in a bar these days is No. 1.

I rarely drink cocktails anymore, but when I do, it's either gin and tonic or a margarita. Quality gin and quality tequila are key, respectively. SWMBO likes vodka & tonic or martinis. Go figure.

I've never seen the others for sale. I know 6 was Vodka-based, and 2 and 3 were Brandy and Whisky, more wintry ones. A quick web search will find the rest, but indeed the original Gin-based No. 1 is what we all drink now.

White Russians are great for all seasons.

For something specific to Summer, I would have to go with a Peach Fuzz Buzz made with fresh peaches.

Currently we like to mix No. 1 with a strong ginger ale and some lemon.
