Hello everyone!

I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone that referral links are a no-no. That includes Lot18, buywithme, and other sites where the link includes an invite or code that credits or refers to you. They tend to look a bit spammy and it's hard to distinguish the real thing from spam. Yeah, we know many of you but we can't play favorites, you know.

Links directly to other sites with no referral added are fine.

We'll be going through this thread (and others) removing these referral links as we find them. If we can edit the post, we will. On older posts or posts where there's not much left, we'll likely just delete the post and any quotes of that post.

Any referral links in signatures will also be removed.

In the future, please exchange any referral links outside of the Woot forums.

We appreciate your cooperation. THANKS!

Now, on to "Kill the Messenger".

Some older posts may still have some good information on them, like opinions on a particular wine, where it was found etc, which wooters may like to use. So, please, use deletion of posts very sparingly indeed, or the boards will make no sense.

Believe me, I was trying. Some of the deletions were "Hey this is on sale, here's my invite!"

Sometimes I just removed the link and left the text from the link.

If it has good stuff, we'll preserve.

So how many pages of this thread did we lose from all the deletions? I'm sure there were a ton. LOL

I'm still bummed that you guys won't let us post the invite links anymore. It was always fun to log in and go "Dangit, so-and-so beat me to posting the invite!" or "Woohoo! I beat everyone and got my invite posted first!"

Started with 57 and now down to 46. Most of that was the flurry of posts with y'all posting your links during voucher season. The rest were the "here's the deal, here's my link" older posts with no added info.

Good news is that you have more time now before this thread is locked!!!

I don't think this is against the commandments of the wine woot, but another good place to post and track wine deals of all sorts is through wine berzerkers. They aren't a business so it doesn't rub them the wrong way, as it does woot. Here is the link...I obviously get nothing from this since they don't sell anything. You might bookmark it and check back daily.

That is absolutely fine to post as are deals on other sites. Where we have to put the brakes on are the links that include personal referral or invitation codes that give that person money or credit. At that point, it's too close to advertising.

However, your link itself points to a whole different website. You might want to fix that.

That would indeed be a fun place to occupy assuming we're talking about wine country connect where WD and Ali are. I wonder what could be pillaged from the sample shelf? I might even help pack some shipments :-P

If you have an AmEx card, there is a $25 statement credit applied if you shop at a small business on November 26h. I wonder if wine.woot! = a small business. Or Lot18. Or any of the other sites we buy from. If so, $25 credit for buying wine!

Any current free ship codes for WL?

I have two accounts- this 'anonymous' username for commenting, as well as a 'purchasing' account which is my real name. Apologies for the white box on the left.

Also, in the interest of full disclosure- I'm ITB, selling wine for a living. None of my wines have ever been featured on Woot though, so don't fear the shilling.

Just expired on the 31st. That code cost me 1.5 cases of wine.

This deal is kind'of location specific... if you are in Washington
State, it's pretty sweet...

Whitman Cellars(Walla Walla) has closed their doors . But it’s not
too late to get their wines!

They will be on sale at their Kent,WA location November 18-20 from 10am
– 4pm. They are only available by the case. Prices range from $96 -
$216/case and there is a 10% discount if you buy 5 or more cases.

I picked up their 2005 Narsissa and the Killer Cab, about a month ago.
Delicious! Great QPR.

I know some have used Wine.com before so. . .

Full year of unlimited shipping is reduced from $49 to $25 using Coupon code "SSDEAL".

Went in for some Cameron Hughes Lot 300 with some guys from work to get free shipping. 10% off coupon code "WINERIOT" still works. Didn't find a better code with a couple of google searches.

I did this last year, and it was totally worth it especially with the occasional wine.com voucher that pops up.

Considering buying some of this, but I want to see if it might make it to my local Costco first so I don't have to get a whole case.

Anyone had the Deep Sea Red Blend by Conway Family wines and have anything to say about it as an everyday drinker? Flavor profile and blend caught my eye.

Currently offered on Lot18......which is now not only less attractive as to the price you pay but also firting with the same type of "retail" price puffery WTSO is notorious for. The practice ultimately destroys credibility as it also calls into question the veracity of the wine's description and, in the case of the latter, its provenance, storage conditions, etc.

Oooh, I might have to get me some of that. Especially since my mom needs some more whites and any white from Ty (especially at half his retail price) is definitely something to get!

Oh, and if I'm not mistaken this is exactly the same wine as the Racchus White we had gotten here on woot, but just with a different label.

I had posted this in its own thread but at RichardHod's suggestion am posting it here and in the Pub thread:

VARIABLE (or "DYNAMIC"?)PRICING ON DEAL(S)-A-DAY SITES ACCORDING TO USER INFO??

I wonder if some deal(s) a day wine sites show different prices to different buyers for the same wine based on factors such as previous buying history, zip code or state, or whether you're holding vouchers or credits from that site?

Thus a prior customer might get a higher or lower price than a new potential customer depending on the site's marketing strategy.

Or sites which ship "free" or for a very low price might show a higher purchase price to a buyer in a farther-away geographic area where shipping would cost the site more.

And vouchers/credits might mean that higher prices were displayed for those holding them.

Anyone know??

NOTE: this comment in no way is meant to apply to wine.woot who I have always found to be totally above-board in all respects and have been consistently pleased with pricing, selection, and service (except for crappy FedEx delivery). It is the shady competitors I'm growing ever more suspicious of.

This seems like it would be awfully difficult to do, no? It's possibly, but from what I have seen, we have posted deals in this thread and then people have gone and purchased said deals without reporting a price difference between the posted price in this thread and the price the person paid. My first reaction would be no.
