Does anyone have experience with these?

Interestingly they changed the deal to 5 bottles for $49 including shipping. Probably still a good deal, but definitely much better with 6 bottles

Another rpm tour stop wine available now is Iron Horse 2009 Chardonnay on WineShopper (invite link) for $20. Even though it got a 92 from WE, I won't be going in on it since I'm not much of a white drinker.

I wish I'd seen your post earlier, too (or should I say it's a good thing I didn't), because I'd probably have bought a half case, even with the hassle of needing a woot-legger because those morons won't get the necessary permit to ship to NY. Now you have to tempt me with the Iron Horse deal. That's another good price, compared with $27+ shipping from the winery, because WineShopper will ship a half case for free. And that '09 Chard will be good drinking for at least a couple of years.

That's sort of a crappy change! At least on Woot they lower the prices during deals, not raise them.

wineenthusiast.com has a promo for today only (8/3/11)...spend $50, get a $50 coupon for your next purchase. Seems like a good way to stock up on or replace your broken Riedels (currently with free ship).

Albertsons has the 30% off 6 bottles or more deal again. Buy any six bottles of wine and get 30% off the price of each bottle, including sale prices. Perfect time to grab daily drinkers. Sale ends next Tuesday, August 9th. I'm going by tomorrow for some dailies for SWMBO.

what's that iron horse go for retail? Sounds as if it's a rich time for quality discount wine..

Good prices on Produttori del Barbaresco Riservas at Binnys in Chicago. $36 for Ovello, Paje, Mocagatta and Rio Sordo. These usually run in the $50 range, and the normale Barbaresco at retail locally costs more. Still expensive in the grand scheme, but perhaps relative value for cellar-worthy wine.

Cabernet Franc: it's not just for blending! It's also for blogging.

nice one! Russian Cuvee would be $25 at woot prices, and $40 at club prices, so this is a decent deal!

It's AWESOME!

These are my CT tasting notes from the '06:
4/24/2011 rated 92 points: After a couple hours, nose is nice balance of dark fruit & earthy herbal notes. A big long finish of fruit, dark chocolate, & spice. Nice slightly tart berry and peppery spice.

9/15/2010 rated 93 points: Poured into decanter, then initial taste shortly after: Vibrant nose, herbaceous, earthy, ripe dark fruits. Strong, solid tannins. Dark fruit, brambles, vanilla/cinnamon spice. Good lingering finish. Will add more notes after decanting longer and having with a Kielbasa dinner.
After a couple hours, the wine has turned more lovely. Perfect balance, smoothed out tannins, good acidity. The aromatics have opened up further and are more complex. The nose definitely opens up nicely after some time. On the palate getting a little light tart berry mixed with darker fruits and spices. Quite a long finish even now, lingering with flavors that make the mouth happy.
----------------

I may just have to get myself some more bottles, and use up my last $30 credit. As an FYI, this is cheaper than you can get as a Twisted Few club member.

From the TO website:
"93 points! One of the more interesting Spanish varietal blends in California for the last several vintages. The 07 is mainly Tempranillo, with Graciano and Garnacha. It's a very dry wine, soft and velvety in tannins, with a bite of acidity that makes it somewhat sharp. The flavors are mainly of cherries, with complex notes of green olives, cocoa, anise liqueur and sandalwood, and even a citrusy touch of tangerine zest. A satisfying alternative to Merlot or Syrah that grows more fascinating with each release. Definitely a wine to follow." - Steve Heimoff, Wine Enthusiast

It's tough to recall exactly, but I do know it's not anywhere as earthy as most big wines from Spain (or most Bordeaux). I know my first CT note I went a lot more verbose than I usually do in my tasting notes and much of it is probably pretty subjective. All I do know is that the wine got me excited enough to type a lot of stuff about it.

The CyberPub. It's where everyone "hangs out." A new one is started each week and it can be found under the same tab as this thread.

If you can find a good deal on a Chimney Rock Cab, I'd buy it. They are an amazing producer. I've never heard of the site you are talking about though, is it a daily deal site? I haven't seen Chimney Rock on any of the deal sites yet.

not a daily deal site, but a leading Internet wine cellar. Nice price per bottle (47.50) but shipping is a killer. It is a great price, if you buy a case (3.54)

Treana Red Magnums on Rue La La. I bought 3, which were deliverd on AUG 4 to Minnesota via FedEx ground. When I opened the box today, there are wine stains on the styrofoam indicating all 3 bottles had seeped wine.

This is the first "delivery" problem I have experienced in nearly 50 wine purchases. The magnums were $49 a piece. I hate to find out 5 years down the road that the wine was ruined. Has anyone had this issue with Rue La La before? I've emailed them, but have not heard back yet. I guess I am looking for a little guidance from the experts on this board...

Thanks,

Pat

EDIT: Heard back from RLL. They credited me my full purchase price and gave me a $10 credit (basically free shipping) on my next order. Still wish I had the wine....

Your wine is cooked. You need to get a refund somehow, either through RLL or via a challenge on your cc bill if you don't hear back.
