And just last night I was telling SWMBO that I had to come up with a Valentine's gift. She loves dark chocolate caramels, especially the dark chocolate sea salt caramels made by Munson's (our local chocolate maker). And they may have stopped making the sea salt caramels.

Easier. Cheaper. Better (or at least as good). Triple win.

Better not forget the card though.

What consistency is the caramel?

I can't wait to savor these with a nice hearty red wine like a cab or maybe a chambourcin. Especially like the dark chocolates with a dry red wine.
Yum to the max. And the touch of salt is genius with a carmel. Can't wait to partake.
Speaking of chambourcin, has woot ever offered my favorite varietal???

I second the inquiry on consistency. Would you describe them as a "chewy" caramel, a "soft" caramel or a "liquid center" caramel?

I want to know about the presentation. Chocolate, as a gift, is all about presentation. Does it just come in one box, as pictured? Or are there at least two- one for dark and one for milk chocolate?

Between today's caramels (my favorite) and yesterday's heated throws on woot, I'm set for the rest of the winter.
Will share both with the SO, so V-day also done.

The wife LOVES salted caramels and even though she got her valentines gift already (kitchenaid mixer) I'm in for one. Good deal today woot, you got me to get my first wine.woot!

This deal is less than the cost of 6 greeting cards - which would you (or SO or SWMBO) rather have?

I never got what happened there, but I guess I'm a statistical outlier. My Le Caramel caramels were shipped in a reasonable time frame and arrived pretty promptly. But I guess I was one of the few. Anyway, I'd happily buy from them again -- I use the caramel in everything from pan sauces to popcorn.

According to my treadmill 1.4 miles @ 4.0mph at a 4.5 grade will burn off the 60 fat calories from one caramel.

Sounds good to me....

Ohhhh you won me over with Oregon. I'm in Montana so that means it won't have to travel as far.

I did just get married a month ago, so I guess it's a good excuse to give my husband a Valentines Day gift. Now that we're married we can just be lazy and fat and eat caramels together

Any ideas on how long I can store this in a closet, waiting for the right person to impress? ;)

Worst case, if you haven't found love in 6 months or so, nuke them for a few moments and you'll have a kick-ass caramel chocolate sauce. Of course you can line them up outside like a breadcrumb trail to your front door. It might lead the love of your life to you, or a rabid squirrel.

Wierd how the serving size is 32g and the servings per container is appoximately 60. 2 pounds is around 900 grams...900 grams divided by the serving size of 32 grams comes out to approximately 30 servings, not 60...how did they come up with the 60 servings per container? weird...

The combination of chocolate, caramel and sea salt is just too impossible to pass up and, as someone else mentioned, the fact that it is a 2 to 1 ratio of dark to milk chocolate, I have no willpower. So much for the diet and SICBM (yes, the "c" is supposed to be for chocolate)!

I would still like to know whether it is ok (or maybe even preferred) to keep these in the refrigerator and/or freezer.

As a vegetarian, do I have any reason to worry about the ingredients of the caramel?

I believe caramel is usually made with butter or cream, but of course, there are dairy components in the chocolate as well.

Lacking any reply to the previous inquiries about consistency, I telephoned the store to ask. The nice person there confirmed that the caramels are "soft" rather than "lose-a-filling chewy" or "liquid."

Whether "soft" equates to "really gooey" is anyone's guess. Sure hope so!

Thanks for doing that, although I think I would have been happy sucking on these had they been in the "lose-a-filling" group.

It is pitch black.

thirding asking for clarification on the weight/serving size/nutrition information:

Nutrition Facts:
* Serving Size 32g
* Servings per container approx 60
* Calories 120 Per Serving
* Calories from fat 60 Per Serving

% Daily Value
* Total Fat: 7g / 11%
(etc)

60 servings at 32g/serving is 1920g

1 lb is 454g; a 2 lb box ought to be 908g

I suspect that the 60 caramels provide ~30 servings - that math works out a little more reasonably.

so, does the nutrition info/% daily value represent about 1 or about 2 caramels?
