In for 3. Cheaper than See's Chocolates, and I bet it's a lot better quality. And See's isn't bad.

I am so IN for (at least) ONE... I've even got some extra fleur de sel to add when I feel appropriate...

I was just grumbling to myself that it had been too long since any foods turned up in the Woot-off. Glad it's Thursday.

So I'd love to go in for 2: for Valentine's and to keep them for right occasions. However, whenever I do that, my chocolate tends to stick around for years.

Any ideas on how long I can store this in a closet, waiting for the right person to impress? ;)

Tempting, but I'm a little worried about how the weather might affect them. I'd hate to have them show up all cracked and crumbly from freezing, thawing, and refreezing on their arduous cross-country Smartpost journey.

The absolute best domestic chocolate I've found is Bedre's out of Oklahoma (believe it or not). I doubt these could surpass them.

No. That's not me.

In for 3. At $10/lb that's almost crazy big box club prices for far, far lesser chocolates.

Neuhaus it ain't, but the QPR is worthy of an all-in call on this one, folks.

I was just recently thinking about caramels and longing for more Le Caramel salted butter caramels. I'm sure I will love these too.

Huh. Do I forgive woot for the epic disaster that was Le Caramel and try again? Or keep my money and save it for better days. Decisions, decisions.

So I take it you have never had a frozen chocolate/caramel treat as a kid then? As I recall they were not only most wondrous, but also lasted a very long time...

You have a good 120 days to find the perfect person to gift these to...and if the perfect person doesn't happen by, you will still be able to enjoy them for another 30 days all by your lonesome!

Welcome To The Candy Basket

Dark Chocolate Fleur De Sel Caramel

Milk Chocolate Fleur De Sel Salted Caramels

Gotta love this:

"It was in 1999 that The Candy Basket merged with Shorthill Taffy Factory, another locally owned and operated candy manufacturer since 1914. Shorthill Taffy Factory boasts four generations of women manufacturing the finest quality and variety of salt water taffy in the world. From our basic best sellers, Red Cinnamon, Peanut Butter, Licorice Swirl, and Peppermint, to our more exotic flavors, Paradise Plum, Asian Pear, Maple Bacon, and Jalapeno, each batch is slow cooked in copper kettles and pulled to perfection. Every batch is made fresh to order!

The two companies are a match made in heaven, in and out of the work place! Not only was a successful year for business born, but love was in the air, and we don’t mean Valentine’s Day. The owner of The Candy Basket, Inc., Dale C. Fuhr proposed to the owner of Shorthill Taffy Factory, Kipi Doran in August of 2001. As their love continues to grow, so does business!"

My suggestion, if I may, would be to try to get out a tad more...

WOW compared to the retail price these appear to be an excellent deal! The wife and I recently had chocolate cupcakes with caramel frosting and fleur-de-sel on top. I was very impressed with the cupcakes, and can't wait to try these! In for one!

Great to see you here! Can you tell us a bit about the source of the chocolate? (You know, Country of origin, percentages, etc.)

The wine seems to be very closed-in and seems to have entered a dumb stage. Sort of a Marcel Meursault.

LOL! Our first Gigi's cupcakes is opening tomorrow and on their menu - Chocolate Salted Caramel and I can't wait to try it!

Looks like there's more than one Candy Basket out there - however, it does appear to be the one that merged with Shorthill Taffy like NightGhost said.

Oh man... on a diet... but salted chocolate covered caramels are my weakness. I might have to plan ahead for when I quit this diet and just order anyhow.

Nah, I like a good frozen chocolate as much as the next person, but once you freeze, thaw, re-freeze it several times, especially in quick succession, it hardens up and loses a lot of creaminess.

I dunno, maybe that only happens to cheap chocolate or it's not as bad for dark chocolate. Maybe I'm just making things up. After a night snowed in with a bottle of wine, who really knows...

Well I'll be damned, a local company. For that I'm definitely in for one. Not to mention, I had some salted caramels from Purdy's chocolates over the Xmas holiday (Canadian company) and I'll be damned if those weren't out of this world.

Sure hope these, at the very least, come close!
