I was in Beijing recently and I think I could've bought all of these items for about 3 dollars out the door.

Then again, I could say the same about a watch, a DVD, or an iPhone 4.

Looks like a nice set for entertaining if you're into tea time.

Place the tea leaves and water in the top.
Wait the desired length of time and then place the tea pot on top of a cup where the water will be released into the cup and the leaves are left behind.

Edit:
# When tea is ready, simply place it atop your cup this will cause a valve at the bottom to release: crystal-clear tea flows down, while the mesh filter retains all the leaves with one of the best infusers on the market
# Tea will not drain from the teapot until you set it on top of your cup

Sad face on the lack of balsamic.

Also, I wanted some cheese. I missed out on some tasty goat cheese earlier this year because I was pregnant. Now that I'm no longer with child, I want to eat all the things I couldn't eat then!

The one I used to own was plastic. Could be different. But looks plastic.

It's actually quite ingenious. You put your loose tea or ornamental tea into the teapot, pour in the hot water and after the tea has steeped the appropriate amount of time, you set the teapot on top of your mug. There is a spring action release on the bottom that will pour your tea into your mug.

I have one (mine is the Adagio IngenuiTea) and love it. When I'm making tea and others are there, everyone is always transfixed by how this works. It's pretty amusing!

Fill your glass when it is empty, empty it when it is full, never leave it empty, never leave it full.

I have something similiar from Adagio, and I love it. Great product. This does the same thing, if I didn't already have one, I'd get this.

doh! two mintues too late, but agreed. great product

Straight from Adagio.

Same concept as what wine.woot is selling, the woot one is a better deal overall though due to the inclusion of the flowering teas, which are generally not cheap. Buy this for all your British, or wannabe British, friends.

You know, I'm sort of [not so] secretly glad I'm not the only one wishing for balsamic. We're on our last bottle. :-)

As for this product... does anyone know how much and where to get flowering tea to use in the pot?

Adagio sells these as well. Thought they had more options though

I think the saw, entrenching tool, and hand axe over on juvie woot (do they really let the kiddies play with sharp objects???) is more my style. Especially in this economy: one never knows when one might end up in survivalist mode....

The text says the tea comes in "foil bags". But in the pictures, there are cute little tins. If this were a gift, I'd want the tins, not bags. Can somebody confirm that it will look like what is in the picture?

Thanks,
Jeff

It depends on how fine the mesh is and how coarse your grounds are. The end result of using this for tea would be about the same as using a french press for tea, it's just the physics on display that are different. I don't see why the opposite can't be true for coffee.

I can also say that, if these are anything like the IngenuiTea line, they can take some HOT water.

Can anyone who owns one of these already (or woot staff!) speak to the mesh weave or the quality of the plastic?

Hmm, those tea tins look sketchy... What brand is the tea?

Is the plastic BPA-free?

It's a pretty good price. ThinkGeek sells a variant of this for 18.99 - but that's just the pot, no tea included.

Teavana sells a variant, which is admittedly nicer, for 19.95$ as well. (The difference is the one Teavana sells allows you to remove the filter to clean it separately.)

But long story short, you're basically getting a bunch of tea, a few tins, and a scoop all for free.

I also have the Adagio version of this (both large and smaller size). For anglophiles and wanna be anglophiles this is great. Far easier to use than a tea ball.

Some comments on the use. If this is like the Adagio version (and it looks like it is) you can put it in the microwave. This allows use at work or any other place where you don't have a kettle. Pour water (sans tea) in the tea maker, then boil in the microwave. Remove from microwave, and place tea in, let seep for desired period of time, then dispense. It is backward from the approved way (adding water to tea) but it works.

If this is plastic (and it appears to be also) the body, and especially the mesh filter, gets yucky brown stains. Can't be helped. It can be cleaned by soaking in hot water and oxy clean, then washing. Good as new.
