I got mine today, right on schedule (ha ha ha). Have only tried the candies and the chocolate so far.

The candy...is delicious. I don't agree with the above poster that it is bland overall. However, it is a bit inconsistent. I've had one or two pieces that were salty and yummy and to die for, a couple others that were still pretty good, and one that I'd consider bland.

The chocolate...um...well, it sure is tasty, but I don't understand what the heck I'm supposed to do with it. The most logical application seemed to be ice cream to me, but that's a total bust. First, the jar consistency is about as stiff as ganache. Second, if you microwave it so it spreads, and then pour it over ice cream, it sets up back to candy consistency almost immediately, which is useless. About the only thing I've come up with is as a dip for pretzels, or to cover coffee spoons with.

mine went from aug 31 to sep 3. it's been sitting around jersey since monday, for some reason. i'm moving today. this package should have been here weeks ago, and now i have to come back to this godforsaken rathole this weekend and hope they haven't done something stupid with my package.

i... don't even want it anymore message me if you want to buy some caramel. sometime before christmas.

Well the estimated delivery date was Sept. 4th but I got a pleasant surprise and it arrived today.

First, I need to start with the caramels. Not that I'm surprised, but they were completely melted. After they've cooled down and solidified (at room temperature), the wrappers are very tough to open and the caramels are stuck on there good. I've had to scrape a couple off of the wrappers with my teeth. Also, and I'm not sure if this is a result of them having melted or not, but they're tougher than I thought they'd be. As for the flavor, it's pretty good, but not spectacular. They're better than your average caramel, and I'd probably buy them again (from a store) based on taste. I wouldn't spend a quarter on them the way they arrived though.

Thankfully the caramel chocolate cream and the caramel topic were not affected by the heat.

The chocolate cream is decent. There aren't any sugar crystals as described by someone else. The flavor is pretty good, but again I'm not blown away. I get a lot more chocolate than I do caramel. This I probably wouldn't buy again.

The best thing by far was the caramel topping. Smooth, silky texture, great flavor; I love the saltiness. Better than the cream, and there's also a lot more uses for it. I would buy this again for sure (again, from a store).

Got mine today, and the candies were very soft~but firmed up after and hour or saw, and I had no problem getting them off the wrapper. The sauces I'm planning to take them to work where we will dunk oreos in them (tis the best). I will order them again for myself, and am sending some to brother.

I was somewhat disappointed in how long it took (notice on 18 August, scheduled delivery the 2nd of September!?!) To be fair, they alerted FedEx to expect the package on the 18th; they didn't actually get it to them til the 24th. But seriously, this is very, very sad.

On the other hand, the caramel is lovely so far. The jars of chocolate and salted caramel I opened (I was in for 2) were not at all grainy, but very smooth and creamy. Going to swing by the store tonight to get a decent vanilla ice cream and have some fun.

finally got mine. meh. The caramel candies had melted and resolidified in transit and are now misshapen and stuck to the wrappers. One thing for eating at home but not fit to give as a gift (which was my intent with second pack). Taste is OK, texture is hard and no subtlety of flavor (ie vanilla, butter) and no creaminess. They are gummy. Better than mass produced candy but nowhere near what I would expect for $20.
Tried caramel sauce, and would say slightly better than smuckers from the store which is not saying much - I think it is just the salt.
Not yet tried chocolate stuff, but now not really looking forward to it, and have lowered expectations.
After waiting this long, I can't help but be disappointed and believe they would have tasted much better had they arrived sooner and not gone through the temperature changes that likely lowered the quality.
One more thing about the shipping. One time I ordered some brilliant wine from here, and it came impressively packaged for travel and temmp controls. This came shoved into a cardboard box filled with packing peanuts and was left in the rain, in a wet doorway. I fear we are seeing a quality decline in woot...sorry to complain but this was pretty sucky all around. I am thinking I need a refund or replacement or something.

The best use I have found for the chocolate (which, IMO, is the best tasting of the lot) is to put it on a spoon and put the spoon in my mouth. I had thought about heating it (for ice cream, etc), but it's pretty good right from the jar.

I, too, had this problem. I didn't mention it in my first post because I thought I was just being finnickey. Caramel is supposed to be sticky, right? But it is kind of annoying to have to do the teeth-scraping thing.

My orders shipped via Smartpost usually arrive pretty quickly, like the ones I'm already receiving from the recent woot-off. Next time, I'll be more attentive to the Smartpost icon when ordering food in August.

@ crisangel
I was going to offer you one of mine, had the box arrived before your mom left town. Sadly, my two orders are melting in Jersey with yours. :-/
But hey, thanks for the crepe idea & welcome to New York. If you need a taste-tester, I'm in!

Hi there,
I already stated that I missed the smartpost icon. No need to rub it in. That said, this was unacceptable for a 'food' item that was touted as super fresh, made just for wooters, on the vendor's facebook page. I think less than 2.5 weeks is a reasonable time expectation. Especially since the product was damaged during the shipping period.
You might want to follow the woot staffer's lead on customer service here, since you are representing the company in a way.

My caramel candies melted in transit and became misshapen blobs glued to the wrappers. I can only assume that they were block shapes to start. Once I manage to get the candy separated from the wrapper and my tongue rounds the mess into a ball the enjoyment starts. I haven't yet tried the contents of either jar.

Okay. Ouch. Sorry if you took my comment as a personal "rub". I was poking at MYSELF for not paying closer attention, considering the heat and what CAN go wrong with Smartpost. I am a wooter who helps out, when I can, but just like you, I'm entitled to express my frustration. That said, customer service does a good job of rectifying problems.

Woot needs to follow this rule from now on:

If it can melt, don't offer it during the summer. Simple stuff.

got mine today

the candies were partially melted, wrappers were sticky and it was hard to get them out. let them cooled down in the refrigerator for a bit and they came out much more easily, tasted alright.. can't really taste the salt though.

caramel topping/cream came in perfect condition, really like the caramel topping. cream is a little too thick i think, and just tastes like chocolate more than caramel.

They can get a little ahead of themselves on their delivery status, but if your order doesn't show up within a couple days, there's a couple things worth doing. The first: check outside, in the bushes, around the corner, etc. If nothing turns up there, check with the neighbors. After that, please notify service@woot.com that your order seems to have been consumed by the great Postal Monster.

Oh, the delightfully smooth and rich taste of caramel. The way your eyes light up when you see it, that yummy feeling it gives your stomach once it nurtures it with its sweetness... something about it just leaves you speechless.

When that happens, we turn to you, look you right in the eye and say those three words you've been longing to hear... it takes time. Okay, those likely aren't the words you were expecting to hear but sadly, these succulently tasteful items are taking a bit longer than expected to get shipped out so we're giving you a coupon code of [REDACTED] for $5.00 off a future order on wine.woot for the trouble.

If you have any concerns, comments, or anything you want to get off your chest, feel free to write us at service@woot.com. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Very good move. See - Woot cares about us.

I actually already got my caramel, and didn't had any issues. The caramels are really good - not mindblowing - but really good, and the chocolate cream is good too, but a little too much like cake frosting. Haven't tried the regular caramel sauce yet.

First, props to woot for the coupon code.

Mine arrived the 2nd was scheduled for the 3rd and then the 4th.
It's been in the 90's this week so joy when the caramels weren't a melted glob and I didn't have to scrape them off the wrapper.

I can distinctly taste the salted butter in the candies and the texture is very smooth. The taste is okay, not overwhelming or orgasmic.

The chocolate creme is cake frosting/soft fudge consistency and gets stiffer on ice cream.

The caramel is good, very sweet tasting to me. It is buttery but didn't seem as salty as the candies, not that the candies are overwhelmingly salty, just that I haven't shaken a salt shaker in over a year so I do notice when there is salt.

Pretty yummy overall, the jars are mine I'll share the candy.

I think I echo everyone when I say that I got my package and was pretty underwhelmed. I ordered the last package and I liked the caramel topping, so I know I'll like it again, but my caramels melted and resolidified in a way that makes them about as soft as a diamond. I really wanted to enjoy them, but maybe I'll cook with them instead? Perhaps melt them and dip some apple - if I can remove them from the plastic, which is pretty difficult. It's a real shame to do that with artisan caramels, but I'd rather do that then chip a tooth. I haven't tried the caramel with chocolate, so that should be interesting.

As for the $5 coupon, I'm not sure I'll get much use out of it. If the wine comes shipped to my office with a giant sticker that says there is alcohol in the box, I'm not ordering wine anymore. (I only mention this because previous posts stated this.) I can't be getting obvious deliveries of alcohol at the conservative company that I work for. I work for THE MAN and it's a fact of life that I've come to accept. And if ordering food, which won't come with a giant "THERE IS ALCOHOL IN HERE" sticker, but is this incredibly painful, I'll probably just pass. Sad, but true.

Can someone speak to the wine packaging? I'd ordered wine in the past and it was pretty much plain, brown packaging. Has this changed?

Well thanks for the 5 dollar coupon code. Unfortunately I can't get wine delivered to my state so it's pretty much useless to me. When I emailed woot asking them for a 5 dollar coupon code to regular woot instead, they said no.

I was kind of disappointed, as well; my caramels had melted and resolidified. They taste good, but...well, to be honest, if someone told me they'd been purchased at a regular store, I wouldn't think anything of it. Definitely not what I expected from "gourmet." Haven't tried the sauces yet.

I appreciate the coupon from woot...but I also feel I paid for something I didn't get, you know? That is, if I had the option of paying $5 less for my shipment (or of getting free shipping), I don't know whether I'd do it again.

(Again, though...haven't tried the sauces. ;))

EDIT: Forgot to add...I was one of those who didn't notice that this came SmartPost. That was totally my fault; I do wish there had been another shipping method, though!)

My order came Thursday, I put it in the pantry and haven't looked at it since. The caramels look as though they've melted and resolidified, so I'm reluctant to try them (especially after all the comments on them). As for the sauce and cream, I'm not sure what I'll do with them.

I did appreciate the coupon code, and I'm sure I'll find a use for it, even though wine can't be shipped to NJ. Cooler weather is coming, so I'm sure Brandini Toffee will be returning soon!

Totally agree on the chocolate - doesn't work well on ice cream. The caramels are good but a sticky pain in the butt to get the wrappers off.

My package arrived at the end of a five-day stretch of 95+ weather in New England. As with everyone else I was trouble by the shipping time and thankful for the coupon.

My caramels had melted and resolidifed but they were as expected: Not for chewing, best for enjoying over time. The butter and salt are evident and thoroughly enjoyable. I am blowing through the bag and, if the shipping issue were fixed, would order these again.

The caramel sauce tastes the same as the individually wrapped caramels but the subtlety is lost when adding it to something already sweet like vanilla ice cream. A clash of titans if you will.

The chocolate "sauce" is an enigma. As mentioned previously: I am just not sure what to do with this. It is a gananche/frosting type consistency that comes off as a dark-ish chocolate w/ a caramel gooeyness. It is good but it has been relegated to an after-dinner spread for croissant type deal.

So, WD, wine.woot, whomever: Offer the caramels again in a two-or-three bag set, no sauces and faster shipping: I will buy again.

Warning: Tangent: But isn't what most of the wine.woot deals come down to the shipping costs, aside from the retail discount? At least for me in New England it is usually cost prohibitive to sample west-coast wine and foodstuffs due to the cost of expedited shipping. In general wine.woot does a good job, can't control the weather (yet), and only a few items are baked. We'll get over it and we'll continue sampling the wares.

I'm going to disagree with some of the posters and say that I think the caramel sauce is my favorite part of the set (haven't tried the chocolate stuff yet, but I think my judgment will still be safe). The caramels are good, but the sauce... It's actually better by itself than on ice cream--totally agree on that! I'm looking forward to trying it on something less sweet (like, say, a piece of shortbread). Several times, I've found myself coating a spoon and eating it that way (NOT a full spoonful--just enough to coat the spoon). I'm thinking apples would be great, too.

As for the chocolate stuff--maybe a very thin smear on a piece of toast made from really good bread? No idea.
