I hate gardening. If anything ever happens to husband, though, I'd have to grow a few tomato plants just for eating. Nothing you buy tastes the same.

I don't grow them any more, but we have a Farmer's Market here twice a week, so I can get them there.

Yeah, we have a couple farmer's markets, but they pick them too soon. Kind of orangey. Mine have to be red red before I pick them.

Heh. I brought the monster tiller over to son's house to do one of his gardens this year.

- Put ramps on truck (3 minutes)
- Haul tiller up ramp (2 minutes)
- Strap it down (5 minutes)
- Drive to son's house (15 minutes)
- Put ramps on truck (3 minutes)
- Un-strap tiller (2 minutes)
- Unload tiller (2 minutes)

- Till garden (30 seconds)

- Drive back home (15 minutes)

We bought a boat load (ok, a little vw load) of plants today & started planting. My husband signed us up to be on a garden tour in two weeks & we have a bunch of weeds to get rid of, a hedge to tame, grapes & wisteria to train, trim & beat with a machete, and mulching to do. I wanted to kill him for signing us up, but at least he finally started my herb garden.
This was taken a few weeks ago before things really started taking off.

I have one tomato plant and one tomato on it. My first endeavor at a garden.
Will be my last, it certainly amused neighbors and all my friends.

On the bright side Lantanas are great.the eternal rain every day has brought in an abundance of weeds.

I planted my first garden this year. I always thought it would be too hard since I live in Las Vegas, but I came across this method of gardening called square foot gardening. It has worked out pretty well.


4-14-07 - I started out 2 Roma tomato plants and 2 strawberry plants. Then we planted 16 corn seeds, 16 radish seeds, 16 carrot seeds, 32 sweet pea seeds, 4 green bean seeds, 4 yellow squash seeds, 4 peanut seeds


4/21/07 - We added 2 more strawberry plants


5/10/07 - Our garden was growing, but my 3 yr old wanted to pick something from it so we planted some snapdragons for her.


5/22/07 - We harvested our radishes and made a pasta dish with them and olive oil and Romano cheese. Our tomatoes were creeping into other veggies squares so they had to be caged.


6/10/07 - Our garden was getting burnt so we put up an umbrella. Now comes the fun part....trying to keep them alive through 105+ temps.

There is no need to have the time and date stamp on your digital photos, it stores that information when you take the picture. right click on the picture, select properties, then the details tab.

No, I don't have the book. I heard about it from a friend and then got some info from this web site http://www.squarefootgardening.com/

I have four friends who also started a square foot garden this year and one of them checked the book out from the library. If we had any questions we called her to look it up.

The strawberries did put out runners and I just redirected them to the same square. I am thinking about transplanting them to a strawberry tower.
