$@%#$ Kids and grandkids coming over tomorrow. Just for kicks I got one of those humongous Whitman Samplers. Decided to take the outer wrapping off and look at it tonight. When I was putting it away, all the candies fell to the bottom so now the guide is no good. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!

I'm guessing not spending all day on woot.

//sigh

We were much better with birthdays in the old days.

btw: which 72 chevy are you?
I knew I was old when we were passing a car show at the beach and a 68 nova won best car (or something like that)
My first car was a 68 nova and believe me, nobody was looking to restore it!

72 was a good year.

I have owned a 72 Malibu since 1985 when I was 20. It was my every day driving car back and forth to college and then to work until 1993.

I retired it and then began the scavenger hunt for parts to restore it. It took many years and many dollars, but my baby is now better than the day she was born 42 years ago.

I do love a good muscle car. I also have a 79 Camaro in the garage. My mom (with whom I share a home) has an 80 Corvette and drives an 04 Mustang convertible for every day. We're just old motor heads!

Bet you wish you had that Nova back now!

In 65 my grandfather bought a Ford Fairlane. He keep it garaged. It never stayed wet. It had under 50,000 miles when he died.
I kept telling him, too bad you didn't buy a Mustang that year.
It would have been great to have a 20 year old Mustang, in perfect condition when he died.

Ah, wow, that sounds great! I feel like a bad car-mom sometimes because I don't drive them enough. You know machinery goes to pot if you don't use it enough. But I don't like to take them out in the rain, just like your Grandpa. And there are so many crazy drivers out there nowadays, I get kind of paranoid about something happening to them. I can't just roll up in a dealership and get replacement parts.

I cover them up for the winter every year. Sometimes I think about selling them, as they seem a bit of a burden. I could never get the money out of them that I have sunk into the restoration. Then the spring sunshine comes out, I fire it up, get out on the road, and think...Nah, I can't sell this car!

Okay, had the last "big doin's" today. Eight in eight weeks. I'm too old for this. Have to undeck the halls in the next week or so and then I'm not planning a thing for a long time. It's going to take a couple of days to recover from this. Wish I didn't have a periodontist appointment tomorrow morning.

it would colour the perception of my posts in ways which i do not want. it would also link the woot me with the "outside world" me, which i would prefer to keep as separate as possible.
