Since it's likely not Wellington, I suspect Harvest Moon. He's got a "regular" and an Estate. In which case my wallet is going to hurt.

This wine is amazing. This is what a 22 year old Merlot (probably with some Cab in it) should taste like.

2009 Victory should be in the middle of its dumb period - try one again around 2020 before you make up your mind about it.

The one I had last night had muddled fruit. I think it was a black cherry maybe canned?

now for the dumb questions.. seeing how I have never made this before. What kind of bitters and I am assuming the brown sugar syrup is simple syrup? how much of each or is it to taste.

the one I had last night had:
Old Forester Bourbon, bittermans burlesque bitters, simple syrup, over muddled fruit. orange slice and giant ice ball.

Oh, I haven't tried one of those yet. It was a comment directed to losthiwayz and his apparent kvetch about the relative value of a library Merlot vs a Victory.

For sure! Wellington was my introduction to this community so sharing the experience to hopefully persuade more to the dark side. Also I was fortunate to get another '92 so that one might make an appearance in a future gathering.

My local Costo recently had the 2013 K Vintners Syrah The Deal, Sundance, Wahluke Slope. The drinking window is 2019-2029, so I'll let it rest. Let me/us know how yours is drinking.

Finishing this. It really developed nicely after a couple days vacu-vin'd. I think this is the first wine I've ever had from the North Coast's High Valley AVA. Good stuff!

EDIT to add that I got this from Underground Cellar but it looks like the last several vintages have all made appearances on Last Bottle. Highly recommend this and appreciate if anyone sees it on LB to post in the Deals thread.

I've had Eruption locally at a few wine tastings over the past few years. It's pretty reliably good. I imagine I could find it locally since the wine tastings are run through my local wine shop. I can't recall their pricing, but will see if can hunt down an old tasting list.

Average $15-$17 CT community pricing over the last 4-5 years. Retails for $24. Interested to see what it's going for on the open market....

It was beautiful over 2 days! Hopefully that translates to your bottles? If you can find any look for wines with fruit from the "Rocks AVA). Really nice juice and not as pricey as Cayuse.

According to Clark, it should be in its peak right now. From the December '15 offer: "The 2004 is if anything a little more austere than the 2005. I'd sit on it for another year or two to be drinking at its best."

I don't consider myself to have a great palate, but it did seem like it had a little less 'wow' than last fall, but it was still great, and it could just be bottle variation. But what a steal when these were bought!
