No problem, we'll just put them in a box and let SWA handle it. I've pulled out a nice Spanish big-ass red: 2008 Bodegas Felix Callejo Finca Valdelroble (Ribera del Duero), from our friend's home region. If you can take care of the Cava (I don't know why bahwm keeps writing ca va, probably has it mixed up with a French phrase), that would be great. I'm a little more reluctant to lug bubbly across country. Maybe an Albariño, though.

Along with buffalo chicken dip, I'll bring:

2005 Pasanau "El Vell Coster" Priorat

93 Tanzer and 97 Parker: The 2005 El Vell Coster is 80% old-vine Carinena and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon from Pasanau. Opaque purple-colored, it has an enthralling nose of scorched earth, slate, mushroom, truffle, tar, blueberry, and black cherry. This is followed by an opulent, powerful, loaded wine with great concentration and impeccable balance. It has a decade of cellaring potential and should be at is peak between 2015 and 2030.

Also considering something lighter like a Catalunya Garnacha or a Yecla Monastrell.

As for food, it will be a dessert of some type.

I love Rioja, but have had too many crappy Spanish plonk wines and so I'm gun-shy with picking them up. I rely on the rest of you to tell me what's good! That's why I've got LdH, Rioja Alta, etc.

Don't discount a whole country because of some crappy bottles, if I did that I would never buy California wines again Spanish wines arguably might be the best qpr in the world right now.

Not discounting...but it took a long time to learn how to pick a CA wine I liked vs the plonk, and I just haven't dedicated the energy to doing that for Spain yet.

We have an 80th birthday and retirement party to attend that afternoon. (This is for two different people.)

So it's iffy, but lost please PM directions.

If we can come, we'll bring something Spanish or unexpected or not.

We will bring dessert
Bottles:
'15 Campesino rose of Grenache (Isa)
And a sparkler (probably a Gloria Ferrer)

I have no Spanish wine in inventory. If I find something interesting in my travels I'll grab it.
