SoCal #40 Saturday evening 8/8/15 wine.wooters at the cal Phil at Santa Anita Park

Come join my lovely wife and I at the Santa Anita track infield in Arcadia, CA. We buy lawn seats which are around $20 a piece and it's essentially a picnic. We bring wine and food, chairs and a small table that breaks down.

Here's lots of info
http://www.calphil.com/santa-anita-race-track

The theme for the night is

8/8
Lights, camera, action!
There won’t be any previews, but this concert is so amazing you won’t care. With music from Hollywood epics including highlights from Jurassic Park and Star Wars, it’s a blockbuster concert you won’t want to miss.

Violinist Armen Anassian dazzles with a breathtaking performance of Korgold’s Violin Concerto, a showpiece written by the father of film music, while the Cal Phil strings will have you hanging on the edge of your seat as they screech through music from Psycho.

What’s more, you’ll hear the finale of Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony and the world premiere of rogerallenward’s Second Symphony!

Extra butter for your popcorn?

Confirmed:

Please post what food/wine you are bringing so we don't duplicate. Don't feel like you have to bring any food we just like the potluck idea. There is food available at the venue.

Items to bring that will make your experience more enjoyable.
-picnic blanket
-lawn chairs
-sunglasses
-umbrella if you get there early
-Wine glasses
-water

We have a small roll up table that will be good for food and wine.

Right now the forcast for Arcadia is H83 L59 and partly cloudy. Should be perfect for the evening. Park in the north lot which is on Colorado place We will get there when the gates open and pick a nice large spot on the back top of the bowl towards the north side.

The 8th would be preferred. May be heading up to Amador for the 22nd, since I believe that's Vino Noceto's incredible sales day.

Definitely interested. Best date depends on our summer vacation plans and various teenage schedules.

Prefer August 8. The 22nd is too close to the first day of the new school year!

No preference at this point...with a niece on the way in early August I don't know when I'll have to sly north on relatively short notice!

Lawn seats? I'm out!

Actually, won't be able to make it, and just when I have the small table that would be perfect!

Sharing is caring. ;)
I'll talk it over with the +1 and see what we are going to do. No theme for the wine. I'll bring a bottle or two, probably a white or pink and a red. maybe the WCC folks will send some tasters.

We will either be 3 people + small fluffy thing (if allowed) or none. Friend is coming through town that weekend.

Edit - or maybe not...there may not be any more lawn tickets available. That is really surprising! I would have figured lawn seats are always available...

I don't think they allow dogs. Never seen one in the five years I've gone.

I tried to purchase additional lawn seats and they were available still. Not sure what you saw.

It's kind of tricky I think you have to click best available then a screen or two in you can pick lawn seats.

They make it hard to get to lawn seats, but found them. No dogs allowed? Then we will need to figure out whether we can do it.

Its not a park, it's a horse racing track. They do not allow dogs at the venue.

Alright, looking at food, we are bringing pasta salad to whatever size group we end up with. If no one wants to bring a protein I might look at bbqing something like chicken or tri-tip to share. The venue has food but potluck is more fun.

For wine I'll bring a IH brut x and a inspiration vineyards Grenache to share.

I'm updating the OP with this info.
